BTA split

How toxic they are, I am not sure. I currently don't know much about them. Hopefully more savvy bta reefers will be able to answer that question.

Pics? As anemones go, BTA's aren't particularly toxic. If it is actually a BTA. It's rare to luck out and have a BTA as a hitchhiker, that is more likely a majano anemone. How large is the anemone?

After doing a little research, I think it is a majano. It's about 2'' across. I'll try to get a picture.:o

Is this the dreaded Majano, and why is it so dreaded?

Don't see your pic, but get an id and then decide if you want to exterminate. Some people like majanos, but most consider them a pest.

I personally kinda like them. I used to raise them and sell them 8-9 years ago. The LFS used to buy them from me and they sold!!!I believe there are different kinds. There are some that are large that aren't as invasive and others sized like aptasia that seem to propagate to plague proportions. Even so, I don't see what the big deal is. They're very easy to kill. All you need is a syringe and a little kalkwasser.
Here's a shot from when I was raising them.

I disagree :P I've done the syringe and limewater trick to one in my tank at least 10 times and it keeps growing back! We've reached an uneasy truce, as long as it doesn't procreate, I won't remove the entire rock it's on and boil it.

Get a needle for your syringe and inject it. I didn't mention that part. When you see kalk shoot out the tips of it's tentacles give it an hour and you can just pluck it off the rock whole.
