Bubble Alage

Four months ago I remove all LR gave it a good FW dip and scrub it. Then I put it into a 55G tank. The water was good and the light there was so so. Three weeks ago I move it into a new 125G setup and now I see some of it returning. I don't see why after four months of nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions how to nip this thing?

Emerald crabs, It's possible that the algae lay dormant and by moving it over to a new tank something could have triggered it again (possibly temp a little higher in the new tank) But in my experience emeralds keep them at bay.

my emerald didn't touch the stuff. I just removed the one rock it was on.

True that some emeralds won't touch it, I have read that there are imposters that aren't true emeralds and they seem to steer clear of the bubble algae.

Emerald Crabs. I guess I can get a few. I didn't want to put any fish in without QTing them and that's still four weeks away, I think.

If its just a small amount you could ignore it, just keep your nitrates and phosphates low to keep it in check.

I wouldn't ignore it, thats how people get in trouble with this stuff. Try and pull off what you can, and throw 4 or 5 emeralds in there. IME emeralds are very hit or miss. I put 3 in a 40 breeder once and they didn't touch a darn thing. But I have also put on in a 55 and he cleaned house.

Whatever you do, do it now, before it gets out of hand

I wouldnt worry about it to much, just use a smaller diamater airline tubing and suck it out when doing wc, they iether pop and get sucked right up or they pull off the rock. In the mean time you can figure out whats causing the problem. I heard the big ones only releas spores when popped any way

Ive had three emerald crabs in my reef tank, none of which ate bubble algae, manual removal for me, just try not to pop the bubble it will release spores.....

Your emerald crabs prolly wer'nt hungry enough! If you do'nt have any fish in your tank yet then dont feed the crabs anything and they will have to eat your bubble algae.

I had it on one coral and i pulled it out scraped it off with a razor and dipped the dirty end in white vinegar and so far so good.

I don't see any fish in your profile. The crabs are just not going to work in a tank that large. Bubble will get out of control. I put a Foxface in my reef after my Red Sea Sailfin died. They both eat bubble.

That's because it's a newly setup tank and there are no fish yet. I had mix the LR with a bunch of DR I got from Marco, then yesterday I deceided to remove all the LR after a few weeks being there. I stuck it all in tubs loaded with Bleach. This hurt as there were alot of good things growing. There may have been too much LR in the tank anyways. My only hope is it didn't do anything to the dead rock in that time. That rock should be ready when the fish are ready to go back in.
