alright so my wife loves bubble coral so I picked her up a green one yesterday. I was wondering what other colors are available or have people seen.

thanks all, i am searching out one of the pink ones so if anyone sees one at a local swap then let me know please.

I have a pink 'pearl' bubble coral that is about the size of a bowling ball. Neat corals, different than the normal bubble corals. I've seen them at TRS a few times.

"pearl" bubble (Physogyra) coral isn't the same as "bubble" (Plerogyra) coral.

Plerogyra (bubble/grape coral) is probably my favorite coral.

I don't care much at all for Cynarina or Scolymia :)

Bubble/Pearl - like
Scolymia - love
Cynarina -not so much

Personal taste is a highly variable thing. Curious as well though Gary... is it because of Junior?

Here ya go!! Bubble Coral Pics

I've owned many nice Scolymia and Cynarina over the years.
Scolymia and Cynarina are extremely beautiful corals but they are BORING.

Kids and non-reefers are always fascinated by bubble corals IME. So am I.

I am of the opinion that they can be lethal to smaller fishes. I believe that a large bubble was responsible for the dissappearance of a scooter blenny I was keeping at the same time. I used to feed the bubble full silversides and was amazed at how tightly it contracted onto them as it ingested them.

Any thoughts?

check my avatar out, that is one of three i have, similar to the one posted above. One is purplish color and it is branching like euphyllia...

Gary, I love Plerogyra and Phsogyra( lichtensteini). I also love Scolymia and Cynarina. Heck I love capnella and xenia.
I lost mine quite a while ago to a relentless brown jelly infection after a turbo moved a poorly placed piece of rock which tumbled onto it.
This discussion made me miss it; so I just ordered a Phsogyra from Live Aquaria Diver's Den in hopes of impressing the grand kids. These post are costing me money.

:lmao:
at least the Physogyra didn't cost you as much as a nice Scoly!

I've seen bubbles take wandering bristleworms. Bubble corals have a sting that ranks up there with the most potent of anemones IME/IMO. I love how bubble corals can puff out their vesicles and deflate to nothing. They can recover miraculously from a small piece of dead looking flesh. They can be fragged rather easily. Their skeleton is incredible looking, too.
