Oh wow that gives us a better perspective. They look so small in the pics I've seen. Are they 8" tube? I'm sure in person they are way bigger.

Man I'd love to get one or to see one in person. I saw a buddys 200 ext. and it was HUGE!

I think I read that the 160 , 180, and 200 models are all the same height. What is the height of the collection cup on these skimmers including the heavy white base on them?

Collection cup height on these units are 7". The entire skimmer is unbelieveably well built, and when you pull the collection cup off and hold it, you'll see what I mean!

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned before is that the riser tube inside the collection cup is removable. It's held in place by a snug-fitting o-ring. This makes cleaning the entire cup extremely easy, as you don't have to cram your hand in the space between the riser and the cup body.

:D

I must be the first to get a BK Mini here in Canada ! :)

Actually, I'm going to pick it up at my local LFS tonight..it's the BK Mini 160 :)

Post some pics later ! :)

I will measure for you tonight. I can tell you that if you have it in an area of your sump that fluctuates, it will drive you crazy. It needs to be in a sump with a level controller / top off mechanism, or in an area that does not fluctuate.

Question to BK mini users, how many inches of water do you have your mini submerged? I have mine in 8.25 inches.

Scott

The water level on mine is right at the bottom of the silver label showing the water/foam interface line. This allows me to adjust the consistency of the skimmate between wet and dry. I originally had the skimmer about 1" deeper but that only allowed for very wet skimmate.

:D

DeltecRules, I just set mine up 24 hours ago and mine is setup in 7 inches of stable height water. Works great, though still breaking in.

Here are a few pics to help quench everyones thirst...

Okay, so how do you have pics show up in the thread, rather than just the links? Kind of anti-climactic.

Edit: Nevermind, figured it out.

I don't have a top off system. I really hope thats not going to make a difference in the performance of this skimmer. I have this skimmer in a standard 29 gallon aga tank using as a sump. I have the water level set at 8.25 inches. Why would the water flucuate in the skimmer if the water level well above the pump intake? The output of this skimmer is submerged under the water. I can't understand why the water level in the sump would make a difference.
