Klaus wrote to me:
"2 x 2500 RD Pumps a little to big, for the 400 Internals. It is possible,... Standart is 2 x 2000 Liter airintake.. If you want 2 x 2500´s we must cut the Outletpipe ony your 400-Skimmerbody and set it with less high."

So new BK 400int has 2x2000 RD pumps. I asked Klaus if it was possible to use for my BK400 2x2500 RD pumps to have the best performance and he told me that it is possible to do it by cutting outlet pipe.

Oh boy. This is getting messy now. To cut the outlet pipe now turns my $$$$ skimmer into $. Maybe it will perform though.

When can I expect to see the new pump (RD2000) to arrive at Barrier Reef Aquariums? I'd like to finally get my 400 Internal skimmer running the way it was meant to.

Good Evening Everyone!

I am getting ready yo purchase a skimmer for my new system. I am looking to buy a high quality skimmer that is rated for a tank much larger that mine. I have been considering the Bubble King Mini 160.

I will be running this on an Elos Mini. I know that this skimmer is very large compared to the tank, but I want to overskim this tank.

Any thoughts or recommendations on this skimmer?
Also, how much room is needed for the removal of the skimmer cup?

You will need about 3/4" to remove the cup, This skimmer might be too large for Elos Mini unless you are planning to feed alot & running an ULNS.

So, the second pump showed up today. Thanks Jason and Albert for your efforts.

My question for the Proline team is regarding the two air inlets on the volute. What is the appropriate way to install the air tubing? I also saw on the Zeovit forum that when using two RD2500 (which this pump is) that the outlet pipe also needed a modification. Is this true? If so, what is needed to complete the modification to the skimmer?

Hello Bricky,

The second, smaller inlet is for the optional use of ozone. No further modifications required.

I can not understand this. I have seen a SM300 skimmer with only one pump. This was a RD2500 pump. Have they changed the pump from one to two pumps on the SM300 skimmer? And if they have...why? Is the SM300 with one RD2500 pump not working well?
The skimmer you have a link to have one RD2000 and one RD1500, hmmm, this is not easy to understand.
Can somebody please clear up this?

I just realized you are from Norway, the Euro version only comes with one pump.
On this side of the pond we like to have everything fully loaded

Terry- I will be keeping many Non-Photosynthetic corals in this system, as well as a juvenile bandit angel. Both of which will require frequent feedings. This is why I am wanting a skimmer such as this.

Since I will be feeding a lot, do you think that this skimmer would be appropriate?

Also, what is the minimum water level for this skimmer?

You might be able to use it but I am not 100% sure.
Just not much water volume, can you tell me what is the total water volume for sump & tank combined?
The minimum is 8" ,however with that much bioload might also work in 7.5"ish.
BTW, sounds like it is going to be a gorgeous set up. I love the Elos Mini are you getting the E-lite as well?

I am not sure what the total water volume for the entire system is. Probably somewhere around 30 gallons. The sump obviously holds more than 10 gallons, but it is only filled up 1/3-1/2 of the way.

I should be able to keep the water level at 8" with no problem.

As for lighting I am not going to use the E-Lite. I got my Girlfriend an Elos Mini about a year ago, and she loves the E-lite. I like it, but I am looking for something that is more controllable. Currently I am planning on using either the Aqua-Illumination 12" LED fixture or the Sfiligoi Mini Galaxy 40. The whole system will be controlled with the ProfiLux Plus II. It is amazing what this controller can do with a controllable LED fixture

Okay, the mod is done. All I need now is the air silencer. I read that there is a dual silencer out there. Guess I'll have to grab one when they are available.

So I plugged both pumps in to see how things would run. Right now the water is really turbulent. Not sure if this is right or not. Also don't know if not having the second air silencer is affecting things also. I'll let you know once the second one comes this week.
