Bubble King Skimmer Club

BK Suggestion Needed

I am plumbing 2 tanks into one sump

Tank 1 - ELOS 120XL
Tank 2 - AGE 90gallon 36x24x24
Sump - 48x24x16

I calculate the water volume to be at 300 + gallons

Tank 1 mixed reef tank with many fish.
Tank 2 - deep sand bed (4 inch) for 2 carpets some LPS & SPS and a Latz pair

I feed 2 cubes of frozen food every other day and a pinch of pellets and flakes between cubes.

Your Thoughts Welcomed

Anyone have a 160 Mini on a ELOS 120? I'm getting mine soon and was hoping it would fit in the ELOS sump =X

I would take a look at the following three models......

Super Marin 250, Bubble King Deluxe 250, or the Alpha 250. Any of those three would be more than capable of handling that volume. Keep in mind that BK ratings are pretty darn conservative in my opinion.

Considering a used Bubble King Mini 160, could anyone tell me if this would be ok on a heavily stocked 120 with a 100gal sump?

I just got a new BK 200 mini and Im pretty excited to get it going. Is there anything you can do to skim better or is it a monster right out of the box?

thank!

I would bump that to a 180 for sure.

BK's were never designed to be outdone in the aftermarket :D

I'm currently starting a 150G build, which would be best 180 mini or 200 mini. I expect to have a heavy bioload and plan to keep mostly sps. I'm not sure about the sump volume yet but I'm leaning more towards the 200mini. Any thoughts

Hey Matt I had a 200 Mini on my 150 gal SPs and I got rid of it, I didnt care for it, ended up getting a Deltec AP 851 alot better IMO/IME

lol I don't remember asking what is the best skimmer for a 150G, people always chime in on skimmer questions and recomend getting a different one. Anyways if the deltec was better than tell me why, other than price. And why are you browsing the BK skimmer club forum, trying to get people to convert?

sorta just joined the club, bought and paid for and just waiting for it to ship. Should have asked before but do you guys think a BK mini 160 would be problematic for a 40 gallon breeder?

I would seriously think about getting a larger sump to accomodate a 200 SM or a deluxe. IMO The mini would be fine, But i like the SM and the deluxe better. JMO

The 200 mini will work on your tank though to answer your question. :)

Feed GPH for BK400EXT

What is the best feed pump for the BK400EXT? or I would say (GPH) I am using the BK2500 pump on my BK400.

Thanks,

New problem-the red adaptor for the plug draining the collection cup brokeon my 300 BK internal-so I can't connect a drainage tube to the collection cup, or close it. I turned down the riser to skim dry, but I need a solution asap. It doesn't seem like that thing screws out to be replaced. Please help!

How do you guys think a mini 200 gen 1 perform. I got a guy selling one for $500 locally. YOu think that is a steal? How large of a system could that go on.
