Bubble King Skimmer Club

Anyone know if it makes a difference if you put a cap over the ozone outlet (not using)on the intake to the BK skimmers? I've read that ATB users get better performance by capping the port but I can't imagine it would make much of a difference if any.

Thanks in advance

Tivo

Anyone?

been looking for a new skimmer for a long time now and I've finally come down to the itech-100 model or the bk 160 mini for my 75 gallon with 25 gallon sump...what do you guys think, the itech seems pretty impressive, and I hear so many mixed reviews from people about the minis

IME the mini's aren't that great, when you look at Skimming you want CONTACT time very important with the mini's you don't get that. Dont get me wrong you get a RD pump and a BK but if you want credibility and success get the ITECH or the Cone 170 by VERTEX

The Mini's are great skimmers if you're looking for something that works really well in a very tight space! Having said that, if you're comparing it to the SM line, Deluxe line, or Alpha line, you're not going to get the same performance out of the Mini's as the others due to the decreased reaction space. I will say the collection cup design of the Mini's is better than any other protein skimmer ever produced in my opinion, including the BK's and Alpha's.

i just picked up a sm250 and after few hrs of running it... its already producing some skimmate. cant wait till it breaks in.

Glad you said that Jeremy. I'm a proud new owner of a Supermarin 200.

Thanks Nathan!

I've run it in a vinegar bath and the first thing I notice is that it's incredibly quiet. Also the details in the finish and build quality are a notch or several notches above any skimmer I've owned.

I have it apart right now for cleaning. A couple questions. I noticed the impeller shaft is ceramic. Somehow I thought these were Titanium. Also, it looks like the shaft spins along with the magnet instead of the magnet spinning around the shaft. Is that correct?

I'll be firing this bad boy up this weekend!

OK, one more question from the noobie. Are the red inlets / nozzles into the bubble chamber on the Supermarin meant to be glued? One fits loosly and the other won't budge so I'm guessing I need to cement the loose one back in. If so, I've got some weld-on #16. Will that do?

Thanks!

Happy Friday Tbone :lmao: I had to resort to a carbon pad top. I couldn't bear the smell any longer.... "Smells like Hot Sick"... Spoken by no other but Fat B@stard- From Austin powers.

You are the one that bought the skimmer that I was supposed to buy. Nathan called me back and said his friend want it.

They should be slipped into the body, not glued.

Hey i just bought a used SM250 with SCH but the base of teh pump snapped in the shipping process and it was packed very well i might add. Anyways Can i get a replacement for this base?? Also looking for the hose to connect the volute of the pump to the air silencer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just joined the club last Thursday! I got a 250 Supermarin and put it on my 120 :) . Big ups to Jeremy B. for helping be get it dialed in. I replaced a Deltec AP702 with it because I wanted to see what all the hype was about. I really like the skimmer and am amazed at how simply they are.

Will post pictures later.
