Bubble King Skimmer Club

Hi guys,

I have a 2 year old BK mini 160 (gen2).. The pump seems to have died, the impeller is bad, or I just need to get it cleaned! I took it apart and cleaned it out, but the pump just buzzes a little but pushes no water.

Also, I may have scratched the rear bearing while trying to remove it because it was so hard to get out, I had to use some pliers. How important is this part?

Where can I ship the pump to get it serviced?

Send it in to me and I'll go through the pump and figure out what's going on with it. You probably need either an impeller assembly, or a new motorblock. The small block Red Dragon's that are based off the Askoll 1500 block need meticulous cleaning intervals, every 3-4 months. If not you run the risk of seizing up the end bearing to the shaft, which will end up ruining your impeller or motorblock.

The block sells for $229, however I give a 20% discount if you're just out of warranty but no more than 3yrs old. The impeller assembly sells for $199, and the same discount applies. A new complete pump is $549, but there's no need to buy this as the only two parts that can go bad are either the block or the impeller, which are much cheaper.

Thanks Jeremy. I will send you the pump ASAP. Where do I send it to? I got the pump on 5/11.

You're out of warranty, however I can cover you on the discount. You can send it to:

Please include your name, shipping info, and contact information. I will need the complete pump (include the venturi and red coupling pipe), I do not need the bubble plate.

Our next BK shipment will be arriving on Monday, which have all of the Super Marin's on it, the new Double Cone 150's, more of the other Double Cone models, and the brand new Red Dragon 3 80w return pump!

can't wait to get my SM250. I know it's over size, but I am may have future plan to plumb another tank into the same system.

You will definitely be oversized, and it will probably be prone to overflowing and skimming wet. Just stay patient with the skimmer until you put it on a larger system.

I probably wont get a new DT. but, possibly a bigger frag tank and sea horse tank all into one system.

The sooner you get those put on, the more the tanks mature, and the heavier the bioload becomes you will see a better performing skimmer in your specific situation.
