Bubble King Skimmer Club

My dream skimmer is a Bubble King Super Marine 200 but with the elec cost in Ca i doubt that I would ever upgrade to the needed size tank to run it, it is not the cost of the skimmer or its elec cost of the skimmer but running a 180 + gallon tank, I need to though due to my PBT is too big for my 120 tank, maybe when I get a bigger house I can upgrade.

@Moondoggy4 ...

i heard, lot of Customers here in Europe use the Supermarines 200 + RD3 Speedy with 17-25 Watt. Thats very low Energyconsuption and the Pump is very silent. In Germany the elec cost is 29 €-cent/kw and the Speedy Pumps help to save the Cost ...

@Tom...

like the Bottle besides the Double Cone ... Welcome in the BK-Club ...

@Tbone28....

i remember... any years ago you buy the Supermarines ;-) Thanks for the Reply...

best regards ... Klaus

why is it doing this?? How do I fix it?

also is this a good water and bubble separation line?

skimmer is sitting at around 8.5" of water.

@apexifd...

you have a very high Bioload in your Water. Its was Time for a SM. I see, you use the new Speedy Pump. How many Watt is the Pump runing ? 8,5" waterlevel is okay. Please lift the waterlevel in the Column a little bit, so the Skimmer is going more wet....

best regards... Klaus

I have it set at 50% which give me 32watt.

I have always wanted a bubble king, 4 years into the hobby, I finally decided to pull the trigger and get one. SM250!!

I was gonna get the double cone, however, supermarin just looks a lot nicer for my taste. I personally like the bubble plate, and the inner cone better on the supermarin

Ok deluxe 200 has gone from overflowing for three days and filling the cup in seconds to with wet skim in about 15 mins.This lasted for about 4 hours now bubble arnt rising above the cup.Should I be adjusting anything or just let it be.I have to admit I've Probaly had my hands in there on and off a fair bit so it could well be that.I love the silence of the skimmer,can't wait to get it settled.

Just leave it alone for now and it will start producing a normal foam head and you'll be fine. The more you adjust to what it's doing the more you will be chasing your tail at first. Just leave it be and you'll be fine. :)

Great news ,got home from work today and foaming great.Have about 1/3 cup full of tea coloured skim.Considering all we have is base rock I'm pretty happy with that.I think Il just leave it be for the next couple weeks.Im happy pulling a cup a day for a for the next couple weeks and then Il start tinkering with the settings.:celeb2:

I'm sure it's here somewhere but I haven't seen it.

My DIY 178 gal is almost ready for water. I have a BK Mini 200 and would like to bring fresh air in from outside the house. I've done this with both QT tanks and the PH has gone from 7.7 in my basement to 8.2.

Should I bring it in via an air pump or directly through the skimmer air intake?

If the skimmer is my best option, it appears to be just a little less than 0.5" ID on the intake and very little room to clamp.

Appreciate the help,

Adam

Got a question, maybe someone can give me their opinion. I have. 125g display with a 50g sump. Heavy bioload and mixed reef, eventually sps. I have 2 skimmers but havnt tried them both on the tank yet. Which will be better for me:
Bubble king supermarin 200 or vertex alpha 170?
Tia!!

@bezlar ...

250 Supermarines or DoubleCone 250 include RD3 Speedy Pump...

Tia ...

ps... found this picture... BK on work :crazy1:

Thanks klaus!!! So I'm going to be keeping the supermarin200, it has the old pump with the bypass, not the new dc pumps. Do you think it's too much skimmer for a 125g with 50g sump?

Hello Klaus,
I am a BK DC 180 user and i am pretty happy with it. I use it along with RE-Biopellets in RE Dreambox biopelletfilter and my nutrient levels are quite low.

This summer i upgrade my tank to 700l. It will be a SPS heavy tank. 2 of my friends suggest going for BBK Deluxe 250, while on forums i see SM 250 is very popular. Which one would you personally recommend for a SPS heavy tank that runs a bio-pellet or similar bacteria driven method?

In my opinion, yes, this is too big for your system. Having said that, it doesn't mean it won't work, it just means you might have a tougher time getting it dialed in, and since it has such a large neck size compared to the volume of your system you amy end up having to run the water level up much higher inside the skimmer itself which makes it more prone to overflowing.

I think the same as Jeremy.... it´s on the Borderline. Better was a step down, maybe Double-Cone 200 or 180 ? ....

@tyuksel ....

thanks for the friendly comment ....

for your upgradetank 700 Liter, the modell 250 is little to strong, better was a DeLuxe 200 or Supermarines 200 with RD3 Speedy Pump, so you can controllable the air-and waterintake ....

in europe the modells DeLuxe are very popular in USA the supermarines. I dont no why ? Best Options are the RD3 Speedy Pumps.

You have a Dreamboxsystem ? Thanks for yor friendly reply....

Picture from a customer in europe ...

Best regards from Germany.... Klaus

Hello Klaus, Thanks for your reply!
Maybe a little misunderstanding. I have the RE Biopellet filter (reactor) not the Dreambox sumps. Maybe if i am lucky on next lottery :D Everything i have from from RE is top quality and i feel like they will work forever :)

I will look into 200 series of deluxe and supermarine series with the controllable pumps.
