180's do not have an air adjustment

lower the water level if you're getting too wet of a skim. also make sure you have the air opened all the way up. the more "closed" the air hose, the higher your water level inside the chamber.

so now i have tried every types of water level and turn the knot several different ways and nothing helps. it just overflows nonstop... could something be wrong with my unit? and if so anyone know roughly what part?

thanks,

Check the nipple on the pump where the airline hooks up to for ssalt creep, and cal deposit. On mine a piece of RO tubing fits thru it snugly. I run it thru there every month or so to remove deposits.
Also do you add anything like 2 part epoxy putty? Or a water conditioner?
Do you have an airflow meter? That would tell us if its pulling the amt of air it needs to.

Hey'
I'm trying to fine tune My Mini 200 what water level has everyone found that yields' the best performance? And also when everyone talks about water level where are you measuring from the air intake on the front of the pump or the base plate of the skimmer?

I check the nipple by the pump and no desposit. The only thing i added recently was actually epoxy. Could that be the cause?

and i do not have an airflow meter. I might go buy one now because i am so frustrated.

Thanks for everyones help.

What kind of epoxy? Any other additives?

Maybe you have alot that needs to be skimmed out? After letting it skim wet, will it reduce in frequency?

Epoxy will do this. It makes my skimmer go nutz.
What i do is continually dump the cup till it stops.
That and waterconditioner along with melafix will make your skimmer overflow like you put soap in the tank. :)

Water level is at about 8-10 inches.
I take my air flow from the top of the silencer, add a silicon hose on silencer.

Well It's been kickin for about 4 days and their isn't a whole lot in the cup but my No3 has gone from 5 to 0.2 I'm stoked and have come to the conclusion that the reason it isn't pulling a full cup in 3 days like most of the pic's I've seen it because it's clean nothing to pull. It's doing it's job in just 4 days this makes my day. I can finally start feeding more and hopefully my corals will start to color like I haven't seen before. I have been resistant to feed my fish or put anything else in the tank because my No3 was creeping in on 15.

I just hooked up my 180 mini on my new 156 tank.
It started skimming like crazy the second it was plugged in.
The tank is new and just cycling live and dead rock right now.
Is there an instruction manual online here? I saw it once but do not remember where? Any other tips? It is in 9" of sump water.

8-10 inches of water is optimal, depending on certain factors you may have to play around in this range of height.
