I'd bet with some looking, you could find a DC motor that will match up. The motor on the Iwaki was not created specifically for the pump. If you can find the face frame size, shaft dia. and length, I bet you will be able to find one.
There are a TON of motors out there...

Moonpod what i would like to have is a Iwaki MD55RLT pump with a DC motor,i have a spare Iwaki pump now i only need a DC motor to go with it. DC power saves 30% on the ele cost.

Yes... thats correct.. The problem is so, all DC-Motors on market is not configuration for aquarium-pumps. Industrial-standart is very expensive, you must have a controller, driver, inverter and DC Motor with a very high torque. The control must be suitable humid room and many, many more little problems...

Klaus a 12 v or 24 v pump motor would be good.The controller,driver ,inverter can be found from boat parts.

Well my BK300 External shipped today and should arrive on Tuesday. Very excited. Its actually going to run on a 70 gallon tank for a couple weeks, then up to a 150G. I bought it for my 340 but due to a move I can't take the tank with me.

that is correct, we plans the DC-Motors with 44 and 48 V run to let. The biggest pumps is running with 60 Volt. We testing all Voltages.. The best is at moment 24 and 48 Volt... 12 Volt have not high torque...

I want the 650...but thats toooo big...so its the 400 or 500 ..hmmm
