bubble magus-BK knockoff

Ostrow, i've also messed with the atman thats around 600gph, which i'm guessing is this pump. It wasn't impressive either. The terminator II runs on them. They all remind me of via aqua pump's. I couldn't get much out of it air wise, but didn't try for a super long time. I can get quite a bit more out of a gen x 2400.

Well the atman's that the typhoon and terminator use are paddle wheel. I meshmodded both after grinding them down but they weren't great performers, there volutes weren't very large. The pump's don't look anything like the one's i used and the pinwheel impeller is much different as well. They may be nice modded pump's but the one's i've messed with weren't anything special. It would be cool to see one of these guys in person as the design does look good. I just know there 220v and i don't have alot of electrical knowledge.

You can use a step-down transformer but I'm not sure what you'd pay for one to run 24/7. Lots of folks have 220v ballasts and could run these pumps off the same circuits those are plugged into, though, it occurs to me.

If you go to www.reef-free.com and www.theproteinskimmer.com you'll find loads of skimmers with these, aquabee and eheim pumps, with similar looking impellers. All 220v. Many interesting designs.

Now this is Bubble MAgnus that is a BK Knockoff.....

The BM250

It's
市场价格: ¥4808.70元
本店售价: ¥3699.00元

So taking todays rates....the bottom amount is close to 500 US dollars if I'm not mistaken

Holy! Looks like I should be storing my legos in there

Don't worry Klaus, no knockoff will stop me from getting the real thing.

I know ...too much color ......

but , I would get one if I was looking to setup a big tank. The first one looks really nice... well, that is besides all the colors

All that said ...let me post a pic of the Chinese BK knockoff i have coming in the mail for me ....

A MSX200 :)

You mean Jayson, seems like a good guy who wants to make the best design at the best price.

If you look at the lego skimmer check out how narrow its neck is. That would mean its not getting much air to me.

That Magus 250 uses 2 Aquabees or 2 Eheims depending on the site you go to. Don't think it is really comparable to the BKs.

The MSX is more a knockoff of a BM, not a BK.

The new coralvue ps octo's look like the ati's as the risers and bubble plates are very similar to the ati's. Just not the pump's or neck diameter's.

I don't think anyone who would buy this thing was ever really a potential buyer of a Bubble King. I wouldn't consider buying one personally for two major reasons:

1 - There is always a quality trade-off with something like this. After reading stories of things that went wrong with crappy knock-offs, I just wouldn't feel safe putting it in contact with my aquarium. After all the money I've spent on my reef, hell no! Even if many people have used it with no problems, I still wouldn't trust it. There is really no QC with these kinds of products. One batch of them could be completely different from the other. How would I know that I didn't get one from a bad batch before it nuked my tank? The manufacturers don't care, and who is going to make them care?

2 - I really prefer to see the person/people who have spent the time and effort to design and engineer something reap the benefits. IMO, if the BK has a patent that this product infringes, then selling these is no better than theft and buying them is no better than buying stolen goods. With a blatant copy like this, even if there is no patent, I still don't like it. I don't mind as much buying from a legitimate company that uses Chinese manufacturing. However, copy shops in China are an entirely different animal.

It is my thread and I said I would stay out but I cant because of the potential deal.

the bottom amount is close to 500 US dollars if I'm not mistaken

That is better than 2500

Luke your experience is far better than mine when it comes to skimmers VS knowledge-but that skimmer appears to be a 12 inch skimmer with a 4 inch neck,,,,is that bad?? I have no idea? TIA

I also saw their Ca reactors for next to nothing on a site

Yeah, ok, so more of a fusion then between BM and BK. That's true.

Anyway, these knockoffs are interesting design. I bet if you put a Sicce on one it would work pretty well.

Euroreefs were all 4" necks I believe until pretty recently. I almost got a 12-2 for my Sicce pumps but backed out because of that neck. But they work pretty darned well for a lot of people.

Thats a 10" diameter skimmer with a tops of 3-3.5" neck diameter. It can probably handle around 800-900lph air. The bk is pulling 1500lph and has a 5" diamter neck? or 5.5? But like you say the price difference is amazing. Then agian look at the msx250 or bm250. Pulling over 2000lph each and at 475bux and 700bux with neck's that can handle the air. But i'm not saying there's anything wrong with them. But if i made a 10" diameter skimmer it would have atleast a 5" neck, anything smaller is silly imo. Besides these guys are 220v so unless they come up with a 120v ko, its a waste to even talk about.

I always find these threads interesting when I have no use for skimming??

I would venture to say that my corals a worth more than $10 and I would be willing to try it but I do not skim, nor intend too. I am sure you might be able to find pictures of my tank here on RC and other sites and
I will buy the skimmer and do a test it for you????? I will skim even though I hate the thought

I will then forward it to you for a treat as long as you pay shipping to and from and give it a decent test. I a not affiliated with this skimmer but I find the high and mighty equipment people amusing as well as disturbing.

Are you in for it?? Let me know because after tonight I am sure they will be gone because of this thread. good luck

What are you saying here? If you are saying you will buy it for me to test it, sure, why not? I'll post daily pictures. For how long? I'll even throw a variety of pumps on it. Let me know!
