Euroreefs were all 4" necks I believe until pretty recently. I almost got a 12-2 for my Sicce pumps but backed out because of that neck. But they work pretty darned well for a lot of people.

Good example Ostrow, the 12-2 is a hell of a body but the neck is to skinny. Its still a great skimmer but if they would have put a 6" neck on there you could rock it out with some serious air! Pry the worst skimmer out there build wise i've seen is the last two years is the aquaeuro 400 classic. A 10" body and a 3" neck....it may be 3.5 but still. 10" and can handle 25-30scfh....woopie!

I will then forward it to you for a treat as long as you pay shipping to and from and give it a decent test. I a not affiliated with this skimmer but I find the high and mighty equipment people amusing as well as disturbing.

I'm sure you'll be very disapointed when you get it and realize its 220v and you can't plug it in :eek2:

But you could throw a sicce on it and it would pry rock!
 
ostrow As long as you pay for shipping to and from STL MO I will be all for that. Just return it when done. I prefer not to skim but some do and this was directed to the ninjaman-but if you want to test it then I am all for it. PM me and we can work out an agreement so no one gets burned. I might like to use this on my LPS tank after you are done

What do you think the aquatraders pump would do on this? Have you looked into the Italian pump on the other skimmer? I do not study pumps

The shoe eating guy I will still front the money as long as you pay for shipping back and forth-same for you Luke. give it a whirl?
 
Yes, thats why the maker of this skimmer finally came out with the resun wavemaker as a 120v version. These skimmers are all 220v from the smallest to the largest. : ( I have a email in to them seeing if they have a 120v anywhere
 
I'd do it. I'm not sure though if you can use a step-down transformer 24/7. I can find out in about 10min though.

When it's reasonable , yes ... but bro 2,ooo.oo for a skimmer that size.... 600.00 for a freaking pump....come on. I just don't see the value in that type of expense.

I'll stick with the Chinese knockoffs :smokin:
 
Yea, i've gotten a no from them in the past as well but its been quite a while ago. I just wonder why they offer them if in the US if they are 220v. I bet alot of newbies get po'd once they get them in! lol
 
Hey Ostrow, what are the dimensions of your skimmer agian. I remember what it looks like but how wide is the neck on that guy?5-6" if i remember correctly at 12" in diameter? Thats a mean skimmer man.

As I have stated before your quality might be better, but I have owned neither.

Do you have a patent on your design and if not, why is that? ETSS does

This a a free market and if the Chinese can produce the same design that you do for 1/10 of the cost-then the better for them and the end user. Your pumps might be better, but new DIY mods and information are always around the next corner.

Your skimmers seem very well built. I would never buy one as I quit skimming- good luck
 
FWIW, i don't want to start some bs argument but china ko's patent's like the bk, bm....etc and don't get any wrong doing because they are in....well china. The laws don't apply. The ER's, coralvue octo's, reeflo's, msx's are all built in the same dang manufacturer. If not more, those are just the one's i know of.
 
Geoxman, I assume you're trying to prove me hypocritical by offering me a free skimmer... Honestly, I have absolutely no need for another skimmer. I don't need to waste your money, nor mine in the shipping costs. Thanks for the offer, but give it to someone else.

If it is high and mighty to demand that a product have reliable quality control and not infringe other people's intellectual property, then I guess that suits me fine. If this is a free market, then I have the right to choose what I want to spend my dollar on.
 
I'm not in the market for a skimmer, I've got a very serviceable ASM G-3 that set me back a whopping $245 three years ago... But I do like to check out new technology/manufacturers and such.

When I look at KZ, BK, ABT and the like... All I think is WHY???

The prices on these are obnoxiously high :rolleyes:

Come on... we're talking some acrylic, plastic, and a pump or pumps.

Funny thing about this is there's probably a good 300% markup on these knockoffs... What does that tell you about the profit margin on the others :eek2:
 
All of those are also European made skimmers...and right now the US dolalr sucks vs the Euro, which is driving up the price of ALL EU imported goods. Don't worry, at this pace the bottom will fall out of the US dollar and we'll be paying ridicolous prices for "chinese Konck-off's" too :D
