I really like what I am seeeing from these skimmers, time to call reefgeek
 
I've been all about skimmer technology since I started reefing back in high school (I'm now 25 so it's actually been about 10 years) and I am honestly blown away by the simplicity and superiority of these skimmers.

In terms of electrical usage:performance, they are better than the BKs and are much, much cheaper to boot. They look like they use incredibly nice pumps and if they keep their threadwheel replacement parts cheap, then they have me completely won. The one thing I worry about is the durability of the threadwheels over time because they are so thin... (0.5mm). I know that the material is similar to fishing line, but fishing line eventually breaks so I think having cheap replacement impeller wheels may be crucial in the future, but then again, maybe the torsional forces on the "threads" isn't that great and the wheel will last for years and years to come...

Also, one more thing that I think may be a problem is that you'll have to clean these guys out a lot more often than the needlewheels/pinwheels because it is basically a mesh... However, for the performance and the energy savings, I wouldn't mind rinsing out the mesh every 2 weeks-1 month.

From what i seen the pmps are very easy to remove, I ordered a airflow meter so i can gauge air performance and see if it needs cleaning or maint.
The thread wheel can just be replaced by the stuff people are using here for there thread wheels, Plus with reefgeek carring thier products makes me think that they will take are of their customers on replacement parts if need be.
 
The material is much more durble than you would think. The DLS they are using is the same thing we are using for the DIY wheels.
This stuff is really stiff, not flimsy at all. Also, I emailed ATI and they said the replacement mesh is something that could be purchased here and simply replaced by cutting the zipties and putting more on. Yes the stuff is ziptied on the disc! Simple is sometimes better!

Please do post a review of the ATI BM150! I'm thinking about gettin one to replace my current ER5-2. The only thing that worries me is there is no diffuser plate like on the two bigger models, only a "t" pipe, so the bubble spread might not be as even? Also, no silencer.

There is a stand pipe, But it is stationary and doesnt move.
Theres a dial on the output of the skimmer i read that raises and lowers the water in the skimmer.
Its 21 and a half inches high, and i believe you need 2 inches to remove the cup. If you have 23 it may be just a tad too big.
I ordered mine last monday, I'll know when it gets here.

The original threadwheel in the Eheim pumps looked a little more professional than they do now.... the new threadwheels look essentially like the ones that all the DIYers are doing with the zipties. Haha.

I think it looks a little ghetto since it is an official product from a well known company but who am I to dispute results. I was thinking they were eventually going to remove the zip ties for the final run, but i guess that's a permanent thing and it is nice that you can change it yourself.... Mike, do you know for a FACT that it is exactly the same material as the DLS from aquatic ecosystems. I know they stuff is tough, as I've used it in plenums for years, but still given that it will be spinning 24/7, I imagine that it will break down with time.

it's the same material but in the eheim it's more pro and the density look more then what i try. even in the eheim pump you can see some break down . after i test it i check and i find out that the tie stirp litle bit release you want to follow or watch on the impeller . i find out to that if i put more then 3 layer the pump pull less air it's geteing hard.
i will post link when i get home on the impeller so you can see a good picture how it's look like.

I just ordered an ATI from greg today, and he said it would be 2-4 weeks and that he would call when he got the shipment, It's good thay are local to me, I can run down there and get this thing online.
 
in all the posts ive read on several sites on this skimmer,ive yet to see decent skimmate.everyone praises how much air it produces,yet ive only seen 1/5 of what my asmg3 produces in a week on my 120.im totally confused.it seems like everyone who is testing these are using plastic bins or whatever and not using them on there actual tanks.i cant wait to see one of these in action.for the price im hoping the bm250 turns out to be what they claim.
 
from what ive read on the singapore forum,it seems like they are doing away with the air meter because it contains iron(rust concerns).also the meter is nonfunctional because it stays pegged at max.the unit produces way more then the meter can read.just some fyi i figured id let you guys know about.i hope they resolve the issues and find a better meter so that they can continue to have that option.
 
John, I tried to get one of these to beta test and was communicating with Joerg from ATI. This is what he said about

shawn you can order them at reef geek and i know that fragfarmer will sell them to.
