Just received my BM200 last week and after all the concerns about build quality I'm pleasantly satisfied. These things are built plenty strong enough to handle any normal wear and tear, in fact you'd have to go out of your way to damage this skimmer. With the pump testing out so well and the simple efficient design I think these skimmers are going to become very popular. Why is it that the Germans are always so far ahead on skimmer and lighting design, let alone new reef keeping techniques.
If you got one of the newer models, they are night & day difference in terms of workmanship. But I still think it's a simple change and improvement if they use a thicker acrylic on the body and collection cup, same size as the piece that holds the neck of the collection cup or similar to the improve exhaust pipe. I believe they are 5mm and the body & collection cup is 3mm. Their gluing job is much better on the revised models. My local dealer told me that every skimmer that he received for resale, he has tested for 3 - 5 days with tank water and skimmate. So far, he has 100% of the units leak somewhere, but he repaired each easily with a little bit of acrylic weld-on 16 glue. Also, 50% of the pumps have restart problems as they don't restart when they are unplugged and makes a lot of noise. He remedied all easily with very slight trimming of the threadpad, not even 1mm was trimmed, just a little bit. All the fixes really wasn't too complicated, but a newbie or someone who doesn't know much about skimmers shouldn't have to deal with these little oversights. I think that with each shipment, it should get better. Can't wait for the recirculating models to come out... guess we all just need to be patient with that one. :)

The retro-fit ball valve is HUGE

I am afraid it would break off the acrylic exhaust pipe.

So i am still using something similar to UCandoit's pic above

Where are you guys ordering yours from?
From any of ReefGeek's dealers for ATi skimmers, including mine, that received a big shipment before Christmas.

BM 200

BM 200

I just emptied the cup on my BM 200, that was some of the nastiest skimmate I have ever smelt and seen. In three days I am going to post some pics of this stuff.

My BM 200 is getting better with age everyday.

If the skimmer goes crazy and it can sometimes do, like feeding a certain type of frozen food might make it go crazy, whatever you have the drain valve hooked up to may flood your tank cabinet, your rug, or your hardwood floors with stinky nasty fish poop. :D If your skimmer cup overflows, at least it's falls back into the sump... not good, but better than gallons of water all over.

Ah... Gotcha. In that case, no problem.
I have a drain mod on my remora and had that problem once with some red-slime remover. LAst time that ever happens!!
I sealed up the bottle and put in a 2nd drain fitting a bit higher that went back into the tank. That way it can't ruin things. After teh 2L fills, everything drains into the tank.

If I put one on the 150, I'd set it up so that the container was in the sump. That way, overflows dont' F(udge) things up.

the skimmer can definatly handle it. besides when it is in water it weights 2/3 less. mine is on nice and snug with no evidence of stress....

I decided when I got my BM250 to hold off on posting anything until I saw its range of adjustment, and production. At 1 1/2 weeks I can't hardly contain myself. I got a 2nd gen 250 with the trimmed threadwheel and adjustable standpipe.

I was running an ASM G4+ with recirc and gate valve mods. My tank is lightly stocked, and currently lightly fed because of a recent move leaving the tank bare bottom.

Old skimmer 2 days of skimmate. (I felt I had this skimmer doing pretty well.)

I didn't have time to setup the ATI until Christmas eve. I put the skimmer in and set the standpipe to the lowest setting. I woke up christmas morning to this.

When I first set the skimmer up it was pulling a more watery skimmate even with the stand pipe all the way down. It filled the cup then at around 36hrs. After breaking in I have had to raise the standpipe about 3/4" off the lowest setting to get a skimmate production I like.

I do have a 1 1/2" gate valve I am thinking about trying to mod to the output. The standpipe works fine but I think I could silence some splashing noise, and maybe stop some minor bubbles.

I've seen some complaints about construction, and I feel mine is very well built. I actually like how the pumps are press fit with the tubing, and sit on rubber intakes. I can disassemble the whole skimmer including pumps in about 20 seconds.

I've played with it a few times since. Here is a skimmate shot from the last 2 1/2 days

I'd love to get my hands on an extra pump or two for backup :)

 Thanks for the photos.

ATi was definitely more conscious of their quality control after the first 2 shipments. But really, even the early shipment are easy fixes to get them to skim correctly, just you don't expect the user to do that, the skimmer company should be doing all that before they release it. All I have to say is that ATi sure responded quickly to making changes where they needed to and the quality of the gluing in the later units was a total improvement. :) Actually, let's give credit where credit is due, Oliver P from ATi has been very responsive to the USA feedback. Amazing performance and the air draw is out of this world. Can't wait to see what else they have up their sleeves.

Yes I am very impressed overall, and am glad I gave the skimmer a LITTLE break in time before posting.

My only concerns are:

#1- this maybe too much skimmer for my system. Its high flow BB system 210 display 60g sump (no fuge)with about 230g actual volume. I only have 8 fish in the display. It seems to lose its foam head between feedings sometimes, but still produces plenty of funk?!?

#2-Getting parts. I have tunze sequence SLS etc...they all break sooner or later. I hope I can easily get parts if the time comes I need them. I am actually keeping my old skimmer for now because of this.

#3-Them coming out with something so much better I have to buy another skimmer :)

Can anyone reccomend a specific air flow meter?
According to my Kill-a-watt the skimmer is now pulling 53 watts total

i think ATI have a good product and they will keep perform more good product in the future .

i am waiting now for my ati powermodule 8 bulb fixture :)
