Bubbleking Owners, is it worth it?

If your paying 3 grand for a skimmer, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.

Go ahead all you geniuses waste your money.

Marinworld

I JUST NOTICE THAT YOU ARE IN THE AQUARIUM BUSINESS. YOU ARE PRETTY CLOSED MINDED FOR SOMEONE THAT IS IN THE BUSINESS. MY EXPERIENCE WITH CLOSE MINDED PEOPLE IS THAT THEY ARE NOT SUCCESSFUL. MOST GOOD AQUARIUM BUSINESSMEN ARE VERY BIAS TOWARDS CERTAIN LINES OF PRODUCTS, BUT NOT CLOSED MINDED OR CRITICAL OF OTHERS.

BTW, it is "you're" - not "your", genius.

BTW, it is "you're" - not "your", genius.

"go ahead waste you are money" would make no sense- it's "your", not "you're".

Then again, here I am defending an idiot.

Fliger was quoting the first "your", not the second "your".

For giggles, I read a few of his posts. I am now switching to a Coralife because of his 40+ years of experience.

Alright, I'm getting on with my life and unsubscribing. Buh bye.

I appreciate all the opinions. However I really would like to hear from some people who own a bubbleking and are is presently using it.

Does the Bubbleking perform? Darn tootin. It's a great unit. Is it for everyone? Obviously not. Is it a necessity? of course not. Are there other ways to get great skimming? of course. Is there ANY other unit that I know of that packs the same skimming performance, silence, low heat transfer, electrical effeciency and solid build in the same footprint? No. 'Nuf said.
he has one and obviously likes it.

if i had the means i would get one as well.

I have no negative comments to make about any skimmer

I do want to share 2 months of very intensive investigation on a new skimmer, I cant honestly beleave any skimmer could make more bubbles and skim better than this unit....Please correct me if im in error

well that didnt work, check the skimmer in photo album. oh yeah its a H & S 200 2*1260 It took 4 gallons of water to fill it on startup...

Just my two cents worth. You really have to take into concideration what you are looking to accomplish. There are many factors that we need to take into account. Bio load, type of corals and last but not least are maintence habits. If you have a light bioload and do weekly water changes (which I am not a big fan of) it is not the end of the world if you have a average skimmer. I am not knocking the state of the art super skimmers. I am just trying to say that in many cases they are more of the Tim Allen ego equiptment. Do they do a better job? In my opion I would say YES. But in many cases they are completely unnessary. I have tried almost every skimmer on the market. ETSS, Euro reef, Tunzi, MRC, MTC and ASM. In my opion dollar for dollar the ASM is buy far the best bang for the buck. The craftsmanship may not be the best and they most certainlly over state its ability. But if you have the space I would say go for the G5 or G6 and you will not be sorry. Once again, I am not knocking the very high end skimmers! I just think in most cases they are not needed. (Of course their are always exceptions to the rules.) I hope this is not abrasive to anyone, it is certainly not ment to be. I am just trying to help out.
Please excuse the many miss spelled words. It has been a very long week.

BACK TO THE ORIGINAL BK250 QUESTION

BACK TO THE ORIGINAL BK250 QUESTION

WE PROBABLY NEED TO GET BACK TO THE ORIGINAL QUESTION THAT THIS THREAD WAS STARTED. THE QUESTION IS TO REEFERS THAT HAVE OWNED BUBBLE KING SKIMMERS "ARE THEY WORTH IT?" AND ANY COMMENTS TO HELP reefkeeper2 IN HIS REARCH ON BUBBLE KING SKIMMERS. IT SOUNDS LIKE MONEY IS THE CONCERN HERE, BUT THAT THE BUBBLE KING IS WORTH THEIR $2,000 PRICE TAG. I'M SURE THAT HE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR IF ANY OF THE BUBBLE KING OWNERS HAVE ANY RESERVATIONS ABOUT THIS BK250 UNIT.

Given the heat input from multiple submerged sedra 9000s, I don't consider a large ASM skimmer a particularly good bargain. On the note of the internal BKs. There's this adjustment valve on the pump that is not present on the externals. It seems to be a subject of some consternation. I dunno, b/c I have an external.

Heres a couple shots for the haters :)
4 weeks this BK 200 supermarin has been on a 250 gallon frag system with 3 small fish. I get to clean this filth every saturday.

skimmers

skimmers

Well ,this topic has been beaten to death , but I'll put my 3 cents on this . I have seen a bubble king in action , both internal and external models , I feel the pricing is a bit ambitious on these units based on construction and performance . Not saying that bubblekings are not built well or cannot skim , just that you'd be better off spending the extra dollars you saved on other equipment .
Now some of you will say that I am jealous that I cannot afford such a skimmer and thats why I am negative against the bubbleking , but let me tell you that I have invested a "COOL"
$6000.00 canadian dollars on my current protein skimmer !!!
IT is an H&S A-450 external model that has a 19" size reaction chamber and can fit a small human body inside of it ! This is a skimmer that could easily handle 2000 gallons of a heavily loaded aquarium - no problem !
I chose the H&S "super skimmer" over other brands because it was built so well - it weights over 100 pounds without water , heavily clad pvc everywhere and can be tailored to my needs: Such as how much air to water mixture I prefer .
However it is hard to justify spending "crazy" money on any skimmer over $2000.00 dollars let alone $6000.00 g's !
A well constructed skimmer that is reputed to be very reliable and excellent service behind the product is the way to go .
