The Fish Place and Markheims (Sheridan) may be worth a visit if you're also into fresh water and planted tanks. I haven't been there in a while, but sometimes you can find a deal in the look down at Markheims.

These are both great local shops, I have been going to Markheim since I was a little kid with my Dad over 30 years ago. And while Markheim and The Fish Place have a great selection of freshwater fish and plants, there saltwater fish and coral just can't compare to ARC or Saltwater Paradise.

Reefboarder, The Fish Place, that is why I recommended it as a "must visit". Absolutely monstrous but it is fresh water. I don't know if it is 3,000 gallons, but it is the whole wall, about 12 feet x 8 feet, x 8 feet. They have fresh, brackish, salt, and pond stuff. Great music also...

Made it to the fish place just in time to realize they close at six but looking into the windows it looks packed with tanks as far as I could see. Unfortunately I feared the same with others so after visiting saltwater paradise ( which was full of great deals) I retire to my room and possibly the hot tub.

Anyone who badmouths local business' that are bases in this hobby doesn't get an ounce of respect from me. If someone can give The Fish Place a ton of credit for what they do obviously has a closed mind or bad taste. Are they a reef only guru store...surely not. Do they have a decent selection of stuff? Absolutely! And if you are into freshwater I can't think of a finer store...

Here is the official indisputable final say on Markheim pets, the fish place, saltwater paradise, and ARC..........
Drum roll please.................
They're all worth checking out, each of them has there own special catch and being a tru lover of aquaria they all are worth the stop for me.
I was not able to get to pets plus but next time I will. Thank you to all for the recommendations.
And Geoff like you said that tank at the fish place is omfg sweet, an I guestimated the dimensions and it works out to approx 3750 gallons, any tank that size is just plain worth Goin to see.
