Build Thread: TKERacer619's 600gal SPS Tank

Bulkheads are in. I went ahead and glued the spa flex in for the siphon drains and returns but am going to leave them free hanging overnight for the glue to setup.

Made a run to HomeDepot for the last few parts needed for the standpipes and a couple parts for the emergency drain but they're too proud of a couple parts and don't have a couple I'm looking for so I'll order them online. It won't effect a water test this weekend.

I'll post some pics of under the tank tomorrow once it's finished.

Working hard dude! Glad to see it! Can't really load any pictures or receive texts here lol but glad to see everything is going well!

The Plumbing Loop is Complete!!!

The Plumbing Loop is Complete!!!

The plumbing loop is done. All that is left is the plumbing internal to the overflows. I'll make them but won't glue anything in until the final parts arrive sometime this week. It should be sufficient for a freshwater test this evening!

Next step is climbing in the tank once more to give it a good cleaning before the test and supporting the plumbing under the tank.

Wish me luck!!

Here are two shots of the pumbing under the tank and into the stair pass through. In this plumbing job I used as much spa flex as I could (70ft of it) to minimize losses in the plumbing. Everything has a smooth transition. Overall I am pleased with the results and was able to keep the space under the tank free for storage.

Works as Advertised!

Works as Advertised!

It took a lot of effort, time, and money to get to this point! I am thankful for all of those who helped and followed along. It is appreciated!

Overflows are balanced and quiet! Emergency drain works as advertised. Everything is flowing nicely :)

I think I'm going to mix up a drink!

There were two.

A. Didn't put the drain plug in the Sequence pump. That made a mess.

B. Output of the Sequence pump has about a drip every 3 minutes. I'll leave it until I drain the tank to switch over to RODI and salt.

Though, where it counts, it's dry.

Great progress and over coming obstacles!
This is going to be a great build im following along!

Thank you and welcome aboard! It's exciting to get to this point. Can't wait to get to aquascaping and livestock :fish2:

I've had many opportunities to build systems like this for other people, finally getting to pull out all the stops for my own tank :D

:D  :lolspin:

way to go! better buy the wife something nice for putting up with all the plumbing snaking through the house ;)

She was my gf but not anymore... I bought her something extra nice and gave it to her last weekend  she's super happy! Though it has slowed down progress on the tank a bit.

I'm going to try to fix the stairs to the basrment. I'm going to break my legs one of these days If I don't. Minding the gap with a 5gal bucket isn't super convenient.

The First Step of the Landing

The First Step of the Landing

The first step (which is literally the first step) of the landing is done and in place. I built this out of the same 3/4" ply that I have been using and a 1" thick step.

I put down a moisture barrier and then used some 2x4s to attach the step to the original set of stairs. This will keep everything in place.

I wasn't able to finish the job today but I should be able to complete it tomorrow. My good decision skills are starting to diminish. Looking forward to get this out of the way!
