BUILDING A DREAM....SPS Dominated Tank build

Chings just jealous! j/k :lol2:

I would move the right pillar in one of two ways

A: 4 inches left, 1/8th rotation counter clock-wise

or

B: tip it over to the left, 1/8th rotation clock-wise

:artist: :wavehand:

Hiya Kevin,

Lol :lol2: It's us mere mortals who are jealous of Chingchai, the master reefer :)
Thanks so much for the excellent ideas.
So the idea B suggests converting the right side tipped over as an arch? I do like that idea...more real estate for SPS :D
Il try out both A and B. And check it out.

Thanks bro :thumbs up:

This is what i based my right column aquascape on....

This is how i want it to end up...hopefully with the right coral selection and placement :)

I love the aquascape, i love that look and did the same thing but then i realized how much room i had and how much i was wasting because i ran out of room for corals, then thought to myself if kept an open look (caves) but made it flat the whole way across the top i can add as much as i want... just something to think about for the future..

Hello psusocr,
Thanks a lot for viewing.
I do get your point and thanks for the input. My scape is gonna be challenging for placing corals. I will have to select n choose the right corals to get the proper look. Won't be easy...

Planning to add Flat worm stop from the outset.
Though haven't heard any solid evidence that it really works against the pests...but feedback from early users say that it's helping in the general health or robustness of SPS. So I'm gonna give it a shot...:D

RN, looking great. It takes a very dedicated reefer to truly go minimalistic and not add too many corals or have to add rock in when space becomes limited. Expect it to feel funny in places now but your vision will come out as corals feel in. I think your scape looks great and with your dedication and planning it'll be spectacular. I guess you could bring in a whole team of guys with epoxy and fishing string, LOL. Looking forward to watching it grow! Let me know what you think about the flatworm stop.

I'm very interested to hear how the FlatwormStop works out for you. I attended MACNA in Dallas last weekend and met a couple of guys who swear by it! One of them said the health and beauty of his corals improved so much after adding it that he's afraid to stop dosing it now. (Which is a very good product endorsement, since he said it's $140 per bottle!!!). Maybe I can find somebody in Houston who will go 50/50 with me on a bottle for a trial run. I'm going to do some more research on the product.

hi Brett,
Thanks a lot bro for the kind words. As you said does feel funny, i do sit and stare at the rock work almost everyday with "when, where and how" thoughts :lol2:
I have made the rock work to recreate something minimalistic yet true to nature. i did not want to go too minimalistic exactly for the reason you had mentioned....less rocks does look great but there will no space for placing corals. and adding rocks in an estabilished SPS tank can lead to some instablity which might not be good. So its always best practice to get the rockwork the way you desire at the outset itself and work on that canvas.
But only time will tell how it works out.
I am really thankful for your encouraging words for me.
One thing reefing has taught me is being patient :strange:

hi rlpardue,
Yep...i have been waiting around to see how FWS was and if it did produce any advantage. I have generally got positive feedback on FWS and it is suppossed to work better with Coral Booster. So i will give FWS a shot coz the people that have used it said it does give the SPS a "plump" and healthy look. But yet no evidence it kills Flat worms.
I think its more of a "prevention is better than cure" kinda thing. You improve the resistance of the coral and it can fight back against the pest.
I will keep you guys posted....

isn't it funny that when you dont do it right the first time it eats you away because looking at the same tank for such a long time red flags the small details that need to be improved. I just think its silly that people don't do it right the first time and your signature says it all!!
