Tom, your build is fantastic and I have enjoyed following it. So much so that I have turned several others onto it. I have found you diligence to the details to be fantastic. I am also running an AC3 on my 220G at home and would love to know a little more about the control utility that you designed. Does it have the ability to access the AC3 remotely though the internet? I personally use the web application alot, but really like the look of your control utility. Keep up the great work.

PhilipOSU - first, thank you for the kind words. My little utility uses TelNet (an internet protocol) to access the AC-III. At the moment, it will display current status info using an LCD screen (to be placed on the wall next to my tank - for viewing from the living room). It can also be used to switch any configured device (Timer - in ACIII speak) on or off. I'm currently working on an interface which will allow the programming of complex logic to control the devices. Much like the Feed functionality inherent in the ACIII, but (if I'm successful) quite a bit more powerful. We'll see. The utility started as a solution to allow switching all the configured devices on and off manually without have to resort to the (IMHO) not so usable AquaNotes/Web Page interface.

your system inspire me, specially those 2 mean machine skimmer
im planning to put 2 skimmer in my systm as well,how ist it going with 2 skimmer running in the system?
have you got pic of 2 skimmer running?

Unfortunately I fell behind on this thread, but I have now caught up and am as impressed as I was at the beginning. Beautiful work and excellent progress!
I have a very simple question. How did you secure the small shelf (the one securing the overflow's drain and return pipes) to the stand? I didn't see any bolts or screws. I think that was an excellent idea.

First of all, thank you for the compliments and encouragement. As for the shelf, I attached it with a combination of biskets and dowels. The two together make for a very strong connection - even without it being glued. I can remove it at any time if something needs to be rearranged, or the design changes.
Thanks - and I agree, there is some great work being done. As I get deeper into what would be possible, I'm making a list of the features I'd like to add. I'm thinking about adding an imbedded programming language - possibly VB for Applications. Should be kinda neat for people that are in to that kind of thing. I'll be posting some updates as the app progresses.

I rely on AquaNotes pretty heavily because of where my tank is in my home, as well as being away from home all day, I need the email updates. But I sure wish it had a maintenence reminder system. It seems to me this would not be too big of a deal to incorporate.
I also wish the program editor was multi-layered so I could setup up multiple programs to test results. As it is, I have to keep my code in a text document and then copy it to AquaNotes. This has an added benefit of "backing up" my code.

I am still setting up my system, gathering equipment and such (I'm trying to do my bit in spending our way out of this recession
).
I will probably either get an AC-III or an RKE. My question is do I also need to get say a Pinpoint thermometer or Pinpoint salinity meter or will the controller suffice?

Maintenance reminders - how should the reminders be delivered - how should you be notified?
Multiple program instances - can you explain what you'd like to have as functionality (note that Neptune advises it is not possible to upload a program text using a utility).

I very much like the idea of the maintenance reminders. I've done a fairly comprehensive scheduling system in the past. I could probably just cut and past most of the functionality.
Alan, if I've understood youir question correctly, I would consider the Pinpoints to be unnecessary. With the AC-III you need to buy the probes that can be connected directly to the base unit. With the RKE you need the probe and the SL2 add-on module which provides connections for 1 x pH, 1 x salinity, 1 x temp probe, and 2 switch ports.<a href=showthread.php?s=&postid=13914599#post13914599 target=_blank>Originally posted</a> by EnglishRebel

Just a bit of news. I just received the first two of the four Tunze 6205 streams I ordered. Roger at Tunze and John at FAOIS (LFS where I purchased the streams) both advise they are two of the first ten to enter the country! Well here is possibly the first opinion given from here in the states: FANTASTIC!!! I mean OMG(osh)! These things are sick (I believe you young folks say ). With just the two pumps running, I'm getting an unbelievable flow. Four pumps connected to the 7095 multi-controller are going to be really something! The magnets which hold the pumps to the (3/4") glass are VERY strong. No question about them not holding. The streams are almost silent - I can't hear them above the noise of two Gold Darts! Considering what I had to shell out for the pumps, I was a little worried about not being fully satisfied with what I'd be getting. All gone! No more worry - I'm a happy camper. If anyone has been considering these pumps - go for it, would be my advice.
