Building My 375gal Glass Reef

I have had great luck with my Reeflux bulbs. I am using the same kelvin ratings (12k) as you were. Great color and growth for me. They do break rather easily if a fish splashes water on them IMO. That is probably true in most cases though.

khaosinc - thanks so much. BTW, I hope you're recovery continues at a rapid pace. I've been there, so I know what you're going through. I found the most important thing is to take it a step at a time. The slower one takes it the faster the body heals.

mpoletti, IBASSFSH - thank for the advice, guys. Much appreciated.

R/C was down for way over 24 hours. They did an upgrade to their mySQL software that had some problems that had to be straightened out.

Wow Glass. you'v done a lot since i lost my subsription to your thread back in February... I am kind of glad they did the maintenance, I have caught up on a couple forgotten threads... Your back in my pack of daily reads.

Well, I finally to the time to do a FTS. Doesn't look like much because I've got the frag rack sitting on the sand etc., but you can see what I mean about the pale coral coloring.

BTW: you can see the difference between 20K Radiums and 12K Reefluxes here. The left two bulbs are Radiums - the right two are Reefluxes.

Wow, very nice.

How did you get those (I assume) Chromis to school like that? Did you start with 20 and let them narrow down by attrition? That's simply amazing.

And the anthias are beautiful...are there more than one type?

Simply stunning FTS.

Kudos!

Thank you, Sir. As for the Chormis - I sat there with the camera focused for half an hour. :p ;)

The Chromis come from three different sets. The originals came from an LFS. Then I got some from two adds on Craig's List. The latest have only been in the tank for 24 hours. We'll see how it goes.

Quick question - all you guys/gals with large tanks - what are the chances I can successfully add a Powder Brown if it's at least as large as my Purple Tang (5")?

Any opinions/experiences?

it really depends on the individual fish however I have a powder blue tang, slightly smaller purple tang, larger yellow tang, eye liner tang, larger hippo blue tang and larger salfin tang, all seem to get along fine on most days. the powder blue was the king of the tank and a real bully until I introduced an adult 10" imperator angel, now he's very tame :)

Thanks, Mike, Elliott. I'm thinking it shouldn't be a problem. I just kinda wanted to see if someone would try to talk me out of it.

I think your FTS looks very good Tom. I know how hard it is to create a good looking aquascape ;)

Keep us updated about the paling issues, I've got a couple more ideas if the bulbs aren't the issue.
