Building my Dream: It's a Miracles!

Still trying to place a youtube video in post like Gimmito's 450 L-Shaped Display. Follwing his directions of downloading video to youtube, clicking share, clicking embed, copy and paste link in the box. I cant get it to work.

Like that lol

When you click share, I don't think you are clicking embed, or youtube isn't showing it to you.

If you can't figure it out, just send me a PM.

i swear i am clicking share, then embed and then copy and paste the embed code and post #324 is what I get. But wait I just discovered something. Post #323 by Metal Man was viewable on my laptop like I wanted it to, but now it is blank like my post #324. So I think the problem is with my laptop.
Thanks for your help..
The other thing I discovered is that my iphone can post links on the thread by copy and pasting the link which is available when you send the link in an email but the iphone does not give the embedding option.

You did it a video. Tank looks good

Yea my testing post #324 appeared to be a failure-just had a large blank space but now i see the video is there. So i surmise (wow thats a big word for me) that it was a computer issue and not operator errror.
Thanks

Congratulations on your YouTube video recording skills. We knew it wasnt(cough cough) operator(cough cough) error(cough cough cough clears throat).

This is a terrible addiction im facing. So I call someone on craigslist, someone in the next town over regarding buying a very old thick glass 125 gallon tank that i'm thinking of incorporating into my system; either as an additional refugium or just volume and learn he's getting out of the hobby and offering me his fish for free including a Zebrasoma desjardinii.
My 344 just may be fully stocked before i know it, tssk tssk, why didnt I get that 120x36x27?

Great thread. Love the tank and am following along. Just got my 100g set up about 6 months ago and already looking to buy a custom one sooner than later (it's the sickness :p ). Hope all goes well with your build.

So I go to get the 125 last night. This thing looks bigger than a 125, possibly a 135. Glass is very thick, no bracing, no trim on top or bottom. It was very heavy and it was only the two of us. Couldnt get a grip because there was no trim and just thought of it now to turn tank upside down to get a grip. I quess i wasnt thinking outside the box (or is it tank)?, Waiting to acquire suction cups before we move it. But I did rescue the inhabitants of his 75; a bunch of softies that dont look good:three leathers, pipe organ, some ricordia. Also a Derasa Clam that is in excellent shape. Also obtained the Desjardi Sailfin Tang, six line wrasse, two Pajama Cardinals, Bicolor Blenny, Two Occelaris Clowns (one is so dark looks like a maroon, and two damsels (which are in sump). Last night
my Powder Blue Tang was not happy at all with the Sailfin Tang, but this morning there appears to be peace. I thought there may have also been trouble with the second 6 line but the two of them are staying together.

So, did the smart thing for a change and waited until I obtained four 10" glass suction cup thingies to move the very heavy and old thick glass 72x18x25 (140 gallons) tank. Was in the basement when one of the cups failed on my son while carrying tank. The corner dropped about one inch onto the concrete floor and the corner smashed, almost all the way through but would still hold water. Too much damage though for use. And, there are many large non structurally degrading chips on this tank. I was thinking of removing the silicone and taking the panels to have cut/trimmed to remove the damaged areas, and, either rebuild myself or have this done. Has anyone done this before. I do have a local hardware store that cuts glass but havent talked to them yet. Is this worth doing or is it just trashed?

Sorry to hear about the damage. Suction cup failure is one of those issues all of us large 'glass' tank guys sweat more than any other aspect of the tank move ...

As far as the glass conservation factor goes, you're likely better off just buying new glass if you were to go about reconstruction. Being that the 140G is older, it was more than likely constructed using regular float glass. Therefore, it wouldnt be worth much used unless it truly is very thick i.e. 15mm; 19mm + ... You'd have to look into replacement prices for the sizing/thickness of that glass, but again I imagine it wouldn't be worth your efforts to salvage it. Again, unless it is 15; 19mm +, as you would also need to factor in the cost/time of stripping the old silicone, etc at that point.

Thanks for the info, took some measurements and found the following:
Left and Right sides are .5 inch (12.7 mm)
Front and Rear are .625 inch (15.8 mm)
Bottom is .75 inch (19 mm)
