Bulkhead problems

Some of you may know what was done here, why and know how I should fix it..

This is on Steve Costanzo's old 120g with a right corner overflow..

Ok I stink at plumbing so this may be a duhh moment for some lool :jester:

This overflow has a 1" return pvc,the in tank portion slips into the bulkhead, where there is a little stopper inside the bulkhead..The problem is underneath where it looks like the threaded portion was sawed off to where only the the pvc return only has about 1/4 " before it hits the little stopper I mentioned before..

Should I just put 2 new bulkheads on this thing, the drain one looks to be missing a screw on pvc connector also ??

New bulkheads, absolutely. Considering how important and cheap they are, IMHO they're disposable once used.

This is my general philosophy for anything that's relatively inexpensive that is part of a larger, more expensive / complex system. Plumbing fittings, electrical connectors, nuts & bolts, etc. These types of components are just too inexpensive to not replace when you have an easy opportunity to do so.

sounds like a good plan, anyone one who sells quality ones in my area (buffalo)

salt water paridise in tonawanda on main st. or arc off genesse in cheektovegas will have them.

your old ones were probably sawed off because the previous owner had glued the pipe in them. absolutly replace them as there wont be enough surface area left to get a good joint seal.
