bulkhead rubber seal inside or out

I'm not sure if the rubber seal goes inside or out. I've read that it goes inside; however, the bulk head that came with the tank I bought was on the outside. So now I am totally confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Yep waterside is correct, and if there are ridges on one side of the seal, it goes towards the glass or acrlic.

Actually....

The seal goes on the flange side of the bulkhead, regardless of which side faces water. If you put it on the nut side you'll get leakage through the threads.

I knew you wanted it on the flange side also but I had no idea you could put it on the "air side".......learn something new everyday.
