bulkhead sizes for closed loop?

tank watch

Should I buy 1 inch bulkhead fittings for the Ocean Motion 1 inch returns?
And pump sizing, do I buy the same size bulkhead fitting as the inlet on the pumps? (i.e. 1.5 for barracudas, and 2.0 for darts)
thanks in advance, Matt

I cannot say that I am doing it right but since nobody has answered... I am installing a closed loop as we speak. I am using a Baracuda and am staying with the 1.5" in and 1.5" out. I am running it up to a 1.5" manifold which then splits into 3/4" returns to the 3/4" bulkheads.

you want to get at least the same size bulkead for the in let( an extra .5" would be better).. and yes.. 1" is more than big enough for the returns...as you may have to drop to 3/4" outlets in the tank...

Oh, is schedule 80 fittings interchangeable with shedule 40 fittings and pipe?
Can I use schedule 80 bulkheads and then connect with schedule 40 after the bulkhead?

sch 80 is thicker... so the sch 80 bulkheads will be thicker then the sch 40. but the inside diameter is still the same...

I really want to know if I should buy the sch 80 bulkheads or the cheap ABS 40 size. I dont want to be stuck running sch 80 everywhere.

if you want the best bulkheads get Hawyard bulkheads and use George fisher ball valves... best things you can do to make like easier...
