Bulkheads on round container?

Hey all. Getting the storage containers for my ro/di and saltwater station for my new 300 gallon build (thread will be started shortly) and was wondering if I can put a bulkhead fitting on a round container? Seen different responses, but didn't want to spend a couple hundred dollars and then find out the bulkhead won't seal properly. Also, if you have any websites that have containers that are see through that would be great! Thanks!

Matt

Do you mean a round container as in a 55 gal drum or brute can? I've done both with no problems.

Yes I did. Wanting to get a 55 gallon drum exactly like that one! Where did you get it Raptor72? Thanks! Also, I have been looking into uniseals, but just not sure if I want to take that route yet.

I picked this up from a forum member in San Diego but there are always people selling them everywhere. There are businesses that sell them also. They previously contained some type of food product.

Since I see you are from Durham I'd expect tractor supply to have containers you can use..
and get uniseals from here

(They are in Florida.. not sure where the "aussie" part of the name comes from)
Quick shipping/cheap..

I saw that Raptor, but where did you get the parts? Never had a serious water changing station before, so I want to do it right the 1st time!

Thanks so much man! So you attached a bulkhead to the round container with no issues? If you did that would be great news to me!

Yes, I've done it with the brutes and the drum. The curve is so gradual that it won't affect the seal. I also put some silicone as an extra measure. I haven't had any leaks in 4 years.

Get a schedule 80 Bulk head - they are stronger - you can tighten them down better and have thicker gaskets.
