bumble bee snails

I was wanting to add some bumble bee snails to my 150g, but I don't see anyone else mention them. Does anyone have them and are they reef safe?

They are predatory. Their digestive systems aren't made to eat any type of algae. Definately not good.

I have 1 in my 29g and i see it probably twice a week. i haven't had any problems with it though from what i can tell but thats only my experience with 1.

I have like 5 to7 in my 65 gallon reef tank and I have seen no signs of damage! They don't really move that much but they do clean up some of the algea of the rocks.

They are pretty cool to look at though! I just love their pattern on their shells!

They mostly feed on small worms. They may eat other small snails but they aren't the staple diet. Unless you're really keeping a close tally on your worm population you aren't likely to see the damage. They certainly aren't beneficial and in tanks with DSBs they're probably detrimental to the overall function of the sandbed, but in other tanks they aren't likely to cause much harm. You aren't likely to see them much either though since they're mostly nocturnal and like to hide under rocks most of the day.

Bumble bee snails don't eat other snails, they eat the microfauna in your tank that makes it live. I would think twice about buying from that source again in the future, this is one of those things that people have known for awhile, and if someone is still selling them, then they are irresponsible.
