busted pump...please help!

Hey guys, looking for some fast advice here. I think my main pump is busted - it's not pumping, very hot and keeps tripping my GFCI. I'm going to take it into the LFS when it opens in a few hours. In the meantime, what can I do to keep my tank as safe as possible until I can get things flowing again? Should I toss in a bubbler until I get back? Thanks for the fast help!

I've asked this question a thousand times and always get varying opionions. The general consensus is either aeration (battery powered bubbler) or circulation (internal powerhead).

Does your pump reguire regular oiling? SOmething stuck in the impellar? Mine got some cheato in it the other day and I had to disassemble and it worked great again. Stupid questions.....but sometimes they are over looked.

I don't know - I unscrewed part of the pump and it doesn't seem too dirty and the impeller moves without friction... I'm taking it to the LFS to check it out but in the meantime I'm nervous. Just glad it happened on a day I was home to catch it!

My return pump died the other day and my tank sat for atleast 12 hours before I replaced it.
I have a 125 reef but I do have 2 SIEO 2600's that were still on an I had no losses. If it is more then a few hours I would run fresh carbon on the tank because the fish will be "basking" in their own funk for a while and it might cause an amonia spike.

I went to the store and the pump worked fine, but I bought a replacement anyway. When I got home, I plugged in the old pump and it kept tripping the GFCI so I put in the new one. Works like a charm! Is there any significant difference between in-line and in-sump pumps?
