Buying a large tank: your lfs may be able...

Not all can do it. But in a hobby where 100 gallons is still a moderate size, and where stores can't and don't stock an array of large tanks for sale [the investment would be huge]---ask them if that's an option.

If you don't see a fish you want, ask them.

If you don't see equipment or a product you want, ask them.

Your local fish store is a small business person, very likely, who HAS the ability to order, and who may have the catalogs or contacts to get you things you want.
And goodness knows they need the business.

Good post Sk8r! I ordered my tank from my LFS and got great customer service when the manufacturer sent the wrong tank. I ended up getting a 72x24x21 for the same price as the 72x18x21 I ordered.

Luckily I have an awesome LFS within 10mi of me that stocks pretty everything in every size. Pure Reef in Milton, GA

I can tell you too---your lfs has a loading dock/gate and people who can receive a shipment. Nothing like having a really big tank literally left on a pallet in the street (because freight companies don't do door-to-door) and having to call friends to help on really short notice.

Got mine from a LFS, came in wrong, had to wait a while for the new one but it gave me time to get other things straightened out ( sump not fitting without some renovations).
