Buying first clam in 1/2 hour. Tips please

Getting my first clam tonite. Just need a few quick tips on what to look for. Lights are T5's overdriven @10K. Know to look for whelks and if mantle withdraws when shadowed. Anything else?

The only thing I know about clams is get a bigger one. From what I've read anything under 3 to 4 inches are harder to care for and need alot of direct feedings.
