what is happeing to this country people looseing their jobs everywhere.the president of gm says need to restructure to save gm how about cut back you huge *** pay and bonus outragous cost for a car all most need a house loan to buy a new car.whats next we all going to drive SMART CARS beep beep.

that stinks ,, i have a few GTO friends too ,, one has a 69 convertible that is factory mint ,,, hes sick about Pontiac going under,,, he told me hes going to buy one of the new GTO's before they go under and just store it in his barn with his other one ,,,, one of Americas founding business going down the tubes , the automotive company's are in a hard way to go because of years of abuse by the uppers in these company's and bad money investments. now its costing the average American with their jobs and all of us having to bail out these multi-billion company's that spend more money in a day on paper that we make in a year ,,

yea i just sold my 2004 gto kinda sad i did only had 20,000 miles on it only drove summers but couldnt justify the $430 a month payment for a car i drove 4 months out of the year plus being layed off didnt help either.it was such a blast to drive the best was kids trying to mess with me with their fast and furious cars and the only thing they seen was my taillights.

Years of abuse by uppers??? It's years of abuse by Union employees. How many slack off stories have you heard of taking naps at work, leaving on the clock, faking getting hurt to have a few weeks off. 30 dollars or so a hour to work on a line. The union caused the fall IMO. If the union was gone you could have a line out the door of people waiting to get in to do the same job at half the price they pay to have it done now.

what alot of people dont understand when they are crying about how much these union people make is that when they loose there jobs or close down or even lay people off it is like a trickle affect in the economy. where i work we have multi million dollar deals with ford,gm and chrysler. we have one account with honda worth roughly 750,00 but yet the people in our company ***** and complain about the people that are keeping us working. i dont care what kind of car people drive and i dont want to go into any debates with people on here but im buying AMERICAN CARS despite the price. simple fact buy american because we live in america. THE BAD PART IS I OWN A PONTIAC MONTANA.LOL
im in a position at work to hire or fire people and i hate to see anyone loose there jobs, expecially now. to see a whole division go down like that scares and depresses me at the same time. i know its easy to say oh well its not me but if you have kids believe me its a trickle affect. it might not affect you now but it might affect you later therefore affecting the family which really sucks bad.
i dont care what anyone says there is no one worth the money that people are getting paid to be these top execs. of companys. i dont know about you but if i fail at my job i dont get a bonus. these people should be held accountable for there actions.

DISCLAIMER: i dont work for pontiac,gm or nor am i a top exec. im not a union worker either.

hey kreeger half the price of people getting paid half the price of people making therefore noone will be able to afford additions, fences and what ever else you do. people who make them remarks about unios are usually the people that couldnt get a job there. YES i def. agree with you on the faking to be hurt and getting time off work for it, it burns me up but what they need to do is if they want to save money on this they need to hire a nurse and make sure these people really are hurt,oh wait they did. they also need to moniter these people on workers comp. i think there whole problem is there a big company that cannot monitor this but need to. that will save monet right there.

I think everyone understands how bad closing will hurt all other companies that supply them. I don't think the uppers are the ones that caused the problem, I think it's the unions strong arm. You basically can't get fired from a union auto job unless you steal from them. I no union auto workers that play cards for 75% of the week and get paid 35 a hour to do that.

If you got rid of the union and hired people at a normal pay rate, all those people that supply the auto workers would still supply the auto workers. Win Win.

Nope I don't see it that way at all. I do alot of work for people that make half of what a union auto worker makes.

I don't think you see it clearly. All that is selling right now is additions, decks, remodels. No new Houses. New home construction is what I'd rather be doing. The economy as a whole has taken a turn for the worse and lots of things are to blame over that. Remodeling is up right now even with all the auto lay offs and plant down time. New construction is what is hurting

People can't sell there houses now, so they figure I'll be stuck here for another 10 years sounds like a good time to improve what I have.

Erik

if its not the execs. fault than why are they getting paid so much? can you actually say thats right? and for you to blame the people on the line for it being there fault makes me wonder if your drinking a little bit to early in the morning. hey come talk to me in a year or so when these overpriced lazy people loose there jobs and your taxes go sky high because the city you live in closes the plant. dont you live over by the ford plant:)

I agree. The upper management needs to be held accountable for some of the issue, the other issue is the auto workers union. Look at Honda. The average salary of a floor worker is $18 an hour, but the same job at GM gets around $30. Who makes a more reliable product? It just makes sense for higher ups to take pay cuts, but also union workers to make consessions as well. It's a sad day to see one of the most famous names in the auto industry disappear due to bad business deals and greed.

whats really sad is they lay off all these people what the hell are they going to do now $25 to $30 dollor an hour jobs are not easy to find these days.going to have to work 2 jobs and walmart is not even hireing.plus it hurts the economy because the people makeing that 800 to 1000 dollors a week cant affford to buy luxry thing anymore and that money goes back into the economy.just look at circuit city there all gone buy me it all has a trickle effect

one more thing i traded my car in and bought a new car and i asked the ladie doing my paperwork what if gm goes banktrupt will my car still be under warenty.she gave me a weird look and paused and siad there independent owend and will cover warenty i dont know if thats true or not maybe trying to please me so i didnt buy the car.

when buying a car make sure your sitting down so its alot harder for them to blow smoke up your a$$. i know when that specific place where you bought the car from closes there doors your warranty is void,at least thats what happen to my buddy when he bought a car. i always thought it was thru the company(gm,ford or chrysler). which dont make sense seeing i bought a car in parma and i live in brunswick so i took it to a place out here to get fixed.

I'm not blaming the workers for getting paid what they do, I'm blaming th union for getting them that pay and giving them the power to do what ever they want to do. I'm all for get what ever you can get money wise but after awhile the bottom will fall through like it has. It I charged top dollar for everything I do I wouldn't get half the jobs I do now. Would I like to work at 100 dollars per hour...Yes but I do it for much less and be happy I have work to do :)
The execs have exploited the system too. But it's easier to get rid of them (right Mr. President) then getting rid of the powerful UAW.

I'm done. Off to measure up a job

You might get a line of people waiting to get in at half the wage, but do you think for a moment that the Co. will lower the cost of their vehicles? I think not. Don't get me wrong, the union is just as much to blame for this.

dont forget to charge as little as possible, thats what your worth right. i guess i would never get any jobs seeing that i would put a bid in that would justify what im worht not to get the job so i can have something to do that day:)

They are going belly up as is, do you recommend they lower wages, only to drop the price of the vehicles and still remain unprofitable?
