I'm still making my own, but instead of not caring about the waste water, I'm saving it for watering plants, FW water changes and other uses.

I'm also looking at upgrading my RO to a 2:1 unit from spectrapure. 1:1 would be nice, but for now, with only a single 75 gal tank, it just doesn't make sense. If I went to a larger tank, or added another decent sized display, I would consider otherwise.

Honestly, the biggest impact I made was ripping out all my lawns and replacing them with drought tolerant and/or zero water landscapes. Makes ro production pale in comparison

+1 on using my waste water for plants. I also try to make Rodi only a couple times a month, once for my water change, and then once to use as top off all month long. I keep it in a 32g Brute. I was thinking about getting a new R/O unit though since I'm using a cheaper 4:1 BRS model...

Only have a 37 gal. so 5 gal changes every 2 weeks and top off here and there. small blue print.

Adding a booster pump will help save you a lot of water! It should get you pretty close to a 2:1 ratio at about 80PSI.

I am going to buy2 250 gallons totes to catch the waste water. Then hopefully tie it into my irrigation with a pump to water my plants. Also use it to top off the pool. I am going to add a few more canister to my soectuapure. So it will actually work at 2 to one as they advertise. Right now it is 3 to 1 at best.

Just added a booster pump as my PSI was about 56, during winter it was even less. After I hooked it up, it reads over 90 PSI. I probably needlessly replaced a good RO membrane thinking it was clogged. Hopefully, it will save on DI resin and water. It sure made a big difference in production time.

Well consider how big your tank is, cost of making the water for the life time of the tank compared to 1 time $700 hit. That's what I would think of when deciding.

isn't the waste water drinkable? I forgot. The best use that I have found are:

- water plants
- give dogs bath
- hook it up to the washing machine
- cleaning the floors

If TDS isn't too bad just switch to tap water with a dechlorinator.
I'm getting good results with tap water.
