Ca reactor,zeovit or both?

I was wondering what is considered successful in keeping sps,currently dose a two part solution for alk and Ca but notice the slow growth of my sps compare to my friends system,he does use a Ca reactor with his system and notice the fast growth of his sps. Can you use a zeovit with a Ca reactor of is it overkill? I would appreciate everybody's input,thanks.

Zeovit is a method of running a nutrient poor tank.

Calcium Reactors and 2 part dosing are methods of keeping your tank ionically in balance.

So, there is no relationship between the 2...as a FYI. As for overkill with zeovit and CA RX, actually zeovit makes recomendations for using this to keep parameters stable with their system. Does not really matter though, I know many running full zeovit that 2 part dose...

most zeovit users are now moving to balling using the dosing pumps as CR can be hard to fine tune for the desired alk requirements.

I am just researching the equipment needs for a sps tank and it seems like I might have to go with a Ca reactor to increase the growth of my sps,cuts down on my dosing too but will still need to dose right? I saw a nice sps totm from the netherlands and it has both the zeovit and Ca reactor at work,that is one awesome tank.

there is alot more to keeping sps than just hooking up a calcium reactor or using a zeovit reactor.

if you are not keeping everything stable and providing the proper enviornment for sps than it doesnt matter how much equipment you throw at the problem.

there are plenty of beautifull sps tanks out there that dont use either and there are lots of tanks out there that do.

i just want to make sure you realize that just because you put a reactor on your tank doesnt mean that you are going to have the same growth that your friend has in his tank. there are so many different variables to growth rates between tanks.

is his tank older( more established), are the corals that are growing fast been in his tank awhile and are well aclimated to life in an aquarium. what is his lighting to yours? i could go on and on.

only reason i am saying this is because you are talking about droping some serious coin on some equipment and i dont want you to think that just because you put this on your tank you will be able to have an sps tank that you see someone else has using a certain piece of equipment.
