New CL Nano 8G owner here....

Just thought I'd introduce myself. As soon as my nano arrived, the pump was already broken. It actually looked like it had melted!!! Wth?!

Anyway, they said they'd send me a new one. FedEx. This pump delivery is taking longer to arrive than the tank did. Sheesh. I'll get some pics up soon. Until then - happy reefing!

So here's the setup as it went through the process..setting up sand. that probe is from the heater, it has its own temp probe

And here's where I first ended up...Notice my sea ditch..ugh..

Also, notice that I had to replace the main pump with a Cobalt MJ600...I has a lot of flow.. (reason being the the main pump that came with it, was broken from the get-go and was going to take a little over a week to get here. Just figured I'd replace it and keep the original one as a backup.

You see in the back where the original nozzle came out, now there is a hole with MJ600 ..
I ended up trying something that seemed to work very nice.. I added the tip directly to the powerhead output and directed the flow upwards a little. That helped the sea ditch tremendously. It also really breaks up the top of the water giving nice shimmer and surface break up.

You can also see how the MJ600 fits in the rear area..

Here's the final way it ended up.. Now, it's time to enjoy!!! :)

These new super blue zoas..love them! .Oh, and never mind the thread..It's just holding them down to the rock until they can get a grip on their own..And I think that's a tiny birds nest to the left

Has anyone upgraded their return pump on the 8g Mini-II series? Not sure what to upgrade it with since it threads through the hole like it does.

Can anybody help me to build a nice plumbing for 34G.
I am planning to buy 500gph pump and some loc-line setup but bot sure how to go ?

Hey guys! Just joined the forum because i heard about this thread in a local group. I'm also brand new to reefing with a year experience in the high tech planted world.

I just picked up my 18g mini over black friday weekend and is now cycling - I also sorted out this issue with the overflow. My question is though, what should my water level in the back be at? Right now, it is about an inch or so above the chamber slot in the last stage where the pump is (if that makes sense)

do i need more water? i know its a rather daft question (never used a sump let alone a tank with a built in sump) but i would like to know where i should be before i install an ATO system.

Anyway, here is a shot of the aquascape in cycling mode :)

Been running this tank for 4 months now and so far so good! Struggling getting fast coralline algae growth though even though my calcium levels are good. Been using the standard power head but I feel like the Hyder deflector would do a better job. What do you guys think?

I didn't care for it too much. It became easily clogged with algae and would either put out less flow or stop rotating.
