CADLight 8 gallon Build

Just got mine last week, and have the too large pump as well. The bottom brace under the removable chamber fell out as well. Finally the front sticker left a mess of residue which needs to be removed. Other than those problems the tank is fairly well made. Have not been able to get any response from cadlights on the pump though. I have no problem re-attaching the bottom acrylic piece, or removing the sticker residue, but the lack of a usable pump isn't really acceptable.

Great build so far. Can't wait to see if this thing can actually grow coral...

Nice read on these tanks. Looking at getting their 18gal mini ser.
I think I will tell them to skip the lights and pump. I will go with AI sol nano for light with this tank. Any input for a pump?

I think the pump they send you for the 18g is 250gph with a 13x turnover rate. You will have to find one that fits the chamber if you want more flow from your return. I'm not sure the size on the 18s.
Let us know how it goes!

Pump-wise, they're ok pumps. They're not great. You are most likely going to have to have an additional powerhead in there. I currently have the Koralia Nano and it's a bit much for the 8 gallon tank, so since it's the wavemaker version I have it on a timer to turn on and off throughout the day. I think it would work nicely for an 18gallon. Or an MP10. :-)

If anyone is on the fence about getting one of these, they are having a black friday sale. I know the 8 gallon is going to be 110, which slightly annoys me since mine is still sitting empty... Just thought I would share with anyone who might be considering it and wants to save a few bucks.

That's a good deal! If anyone is on the fence defiantly get the tank! Mine starting to become my favorite tank now that every things together.

Added some life yesterday!
-Helfrichi Firefish Pair.
-Yasha goby and tiger pistol shrimp pair.

The goby and shrimp like the holes in the rock work and haven't even touched the sand... Weird.
Don't really have any ideas of what else to add. I think that's pretty much it.
I've started to pull the bristle worms out when I see them. There's at least four in there.

Well they are doing a black friday raffle at my LFS for a CADLights 18 gallon tank with stand and lights, hope i win it :) keep your fingers crossed for me and i will post a fun build.

I agree that the 110 price tag makes buying this tank an easy decision. It's a beautiful tank. It's been running well, and the lights seem to be effective. I have some nuclear green paly's and some flame algae in there and they seem to be doing really well. The glass is amazingly clear as well.

Put these guys together from the LFS. They stayed close at the LFS and picked on the other one they had. Crossing my fingers that they tolerate one another.
Video coming ASAP something is wrong

yea iunno why its doing it.... u have to change the quality to get it to work.

heres another maybe this will work.

Really nice tank FWIW, Austin! Love the aquascape, the fish selection and simplicity.

I have the 4G on the way. Purchased it on black friday for $75. It is going to be my 4-year old daughter's christmas present (little does she know, it is really a present for me).

Can't wait to get it home. Debating getting it up and running prior to christmas, or doing the setup with her (she is really in to my 120). The problem is, she is going to want to add colored beads, and all kinds of fake crap to the tank. It is going to be hard to explain to her that we are going for a minimalist natural reef look. She is only 4).

Tank looks great! Two helfrichi's in a lidless tank is a pretty expensive gamble though! Honestly, even the yasha is a notorious jumper.

I run the glass top that comes with the tank. I don't remember if it was on in the video or not... They don't seem very skittish. They practically eat from my hand which I thought was rare for this fish.

OK good, I didn't see it in the pics or the vids so didn't think you were running one.
