It's abou 12" at the base, and 14" tall if you want to be able to close it. I found a food container thingie also at the container store that holds 14 quarts (so almost 4 gallons) and drilled a hole in the plastic lid to pass the airline tube. Ideally I'd like something bigger as there is still plenty of room in the box, but couldn't find anything bigger at the container store that would fit. With the right ideally fitted container I'm sure it could hold 5-6 gallons. If I don't find anything store bought I'm tempted to just get an acrylic box made that would fit the inside perfectly.
What's really nice is that the bamboo slats let you easily pass the tubing and power for the pump so the wires are completely hidden.

I like that, what type of water container did you use and what are the inside dimensions of the bamboo container? I saw that the Container Store says that the box is 15" square but it looks smaller at the base.
Thanks for the idea.
