Cadlights 50G Artisan Cube Tank Build Thread

Ya the tank is cycling.

Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 5ppm
Nitrate: 15ppm

The bubbles are all gone.
I used my friends skimmer and emptied out 13 full cups.
I washed my filter sock in the washer with no soap and everything seems to be doing fine.

Thanks for the help man :D

I bought it from a place called Plastic Depot in the valley.
I still got a nice size peice for another cover. If you want, i'll give it to you at the meet.

That would be awesome if you could bring it to the meeting. I just need a black piece to shade the skimmer from my refugium light since coralline algae is rowing on it like crazy. I can pay for the piece or trade for frags.

And here are some more recent coral shots from my tank:

I sold my red goni so I could make room for my red rhizo:

My original mummy seems to be doing fine as usual. It sprouted some more eyes:

I don't think I'm ready for any frags yet.
Give me 5 bux because it's only half.

How big do you need the piece to be?

Hey cocoa,

digging the thread and the tank, I am going to get one of these guys myself after I move in June. Figure I'd learn as much about this specific tank beforehand and sea what best mods and equipment are out there. Any updates? Also, what is the probe for in front of your skimmer? PH? Hows the evap with the rimless and light?

Haha yeah I meant I could give you one once your tank is cycled. It can be a tester frag. I think I need the piece to be about 12-14"x8-10" or around those ranges.

Well those pictures are from a couple days ago... so not really much to update right now. I did however take down the rbta at the top left and I cut it to make two. I am going to sell/give those away to some friends of mine. I will post pics of the process once they are done healing.

The probe in front of my skimmer is a reefkeeper temp probe. Evap is pretty high at about 5 gallons every 4-5 days. But I am also using a tunze aquawind which turns on when the temp gets a 0.5 degrees higher so that is definitely adding to the evap.

If you haven't so already i encourage you to read from the this thread. I detail the entire build and take measurements so you can get a better understanding of what you can do with this system. That was my main intention for making this thread since Clay hooked me up with this tank.

But please feel free to ask me any new questions.

FTS! FTS! FTS! FTS!

I love your set up. how is your sps growth? im sitll using the stock cadlights pendant but am undecided if i want to upgrade to a full blown reflector.

My sps growth is alright. I was sort of falling back on my dosing due to work but now I am dosing calc and alk so they are growing faster. My green birdsnest has grown an incredible amount as well as my bird of paradise seriatopora the digis too. Also as you can see in my previous pictures I had an rbta that was kind of swooping over and stinging my sps up top. So cut that one and the pieces are healing in the corner. I will be selling those so I can have more sps up there. You can see a dying acro in the corner up there. That was one of the victims of my rbta.

Really like how everything looks! I've been thinking of getting the CADlights 40g, I currently have a 47g acrylic tank I got second hand. I'm having to fight hair algae at the moment, so I'm thinking of starting over with the 40g. I left for 3 months do to a military commitment and came back to the algae.
