Cadlights PLS-50 nano skimmer review

I'll be tweaking it little by little every day or two just to give it time to adjust. Already getting some nice skim, a little bit on the light side but it's already kicking in.

Let it be light. Dont stress too much over trying to get it too gunky, remember, its a nano skimmer, will never perform the same as giant skimmers... just the simple physics of it lol

How often do you guys empty your cup? I've been having to empty it twice a day. Is that too much?

This is how the skim looks so far:

Judging by the photo, your bubbles are a touch too high.

See those bubbles forming right where the skimmate waterline is? Bring that down to about a touch over where the cup bottom is... My visual guess is roughly a 1/2" or so.. You should then notice more foam starting to push upward and not wet, bubbles, popping and filling your cup. That is what I suspect is going on in your skimmer.

Notice how my bubbles are down at the bottom of the cup neck, and the larger popping bubbles are in the middle, forming and pushing foamhead into the cup

Tron, I enjoy the gif, but I have two requests. Could you clean your cup thoroughly and then take a video of where your bubble level is on a completely clean cup? The gif is too short to be of any value to me about your actual setting and you seem to have found a good setting level, so I would like to see where your bubble level falls on a clean and clear cup.

Thanks!

It is now fully wiped, but the skimmer hates paper towel and is now in just fizz mode..... Hopefully, as I said, by tomorrow it will "break" back in so to speak...

I experience the same fizz you describe. Can you take a shot of it this way? This is the mode most of us are in when we set our skimmer levels.

So your adjustment has the bubble level just under the white part of the collection cup? Or is it further down closer to the red oring or even further below?

To make it simple for you guys, I would say the bubbling occurs between the 2 white pieces there. Notice the small layer of bubbles just under the skimmer body white plastic piece? That is where it starts, then the bubbles push up into the neck, and form larger bubbles just at the white cup piece, then from there and up its large bubbles and foam.

I noticed that the teflon tape I put on the O-ring was making my water level too high making it skim too wet even after trying to lower the water level by turning the body down so I removed that and lowered the level inside the skimmer pretty much where it's on the gif and it's already skimming much better as it is. I'll also post a video once it starts getting a good skim.

Definitely a huge help with videos or gifs! Thanks!
