cadugauch's 75 gallon build

Sump looks really nice! However, I thought silicone and acrylic don't mix. Curious to see how it holds up. Looks amazing!

Rovster I think they use an acrylic glue. I don't see any silicone anywhere in that sump. Then again my eyes could be going south. :fun5:

Carlos can you tell us a little about how this sump was constructed? I'm curious now that rovster brought that subject up.

I am getting more info on the construction of it but it is not silicone for sure! Its very hard and looks like acrylic glue (cement)

My favorite time in setting up a tank is the stage your in right now... ohh the possibilities..

Lookin good

Looks great Carlos, congratulations.

You should reconsider the check valve. Not only for the reasons Eddie mentioned, but also because they add unnecessary noise.

Really happy you got what you wanted.

Here is the builders explanation

"Acrylic solvent. Two different kinds. One for pvc to pvc and the other is for acrylic to pvc"

Thanks for the input Armando...i will be doing some tests and will decide the best way to fix it

I'm sure it's fine then. In some of the pics, it looked like silicone between the PVC and the acrylic. Just looking out, wasnt trying to be negative. Looking forward to this. If its anything like your 130, this will be awesome!

Here is what i came up with for the aquascape...i wanted two islands...

stay away from filter socks, my god. I cant even begin to explain how much of a pain in the *** they are.

I am looking to convert my Sump from using a filter sock to layered filter floss / filter sock material that is LAYING flat. reason being 1) easier to change 2) cheaper.

tank is up and running!

Having a little problem...my pump is not noisy but it has a very loud vibration! I am using a sicce syncra 5.0 (1,400gph). My overflow is rated to 700gph so i adjusted the pump and the ball valve to get the right flow.

Thinking of changing the pump...any recommendations? Needs to be internal and whisper quiet!

I love the clean look of the sump too, I am curious too how the sump will hold long term, I have only seen bad results with the pvc and pvc/acrylic combination, I also contacted Vincent to ask him about the sump as he advertise them on craigslist, He seems to know what he is doing but I have seen so many PVC seams leak that I am not a believer yet.
This will be a good test! keep us posted.
