cal reactor regulator?

I dropped mine in the water a few years ago :(

Was in the bottom of a box-o-crap I got from a used tank. Still NIB. I was bummed.

I recently purchased the Aquarium Plants model and what a great way to do this. Plug it in set the bubble size and rate and walk away.

I would never go back to a needle valve again.....

+1 on Aquarium Plants regulator, I use it at about 5 psi
-100 on Millwuakee regulator, would not take it if you pay me!!!

I use the same Milwaukee. No issues with it at all for 2+ years. Was in dry storage for the last year and fired up without issue. Definitely budget but she works :)

I removed the bubble counter and hooked my line directly to the needle valve. Many screw up and put tap water in the bubble counter which ruins the needle valve and water can get back into the solenoid and cause it to stick over time. If you keep the bubble counter, only put rodi or distilled in it. On the Milwaukee reg, you need to run it at 35psi or so to maintain a steady bubble count and I would only use it with a controller as the bubble consistency is not perfect as sirreal63 pointed out but it is not terrible either if setup properly.

Last note, make sure you use a check valve off the reactor, many screw up and do not run a check valve. Saltwater can flow back into the needle valve and reg which really screws things up.

how did you connect the tubing after removing the bubble counter?

The nut on top of the bubble counter screws onto the male end that was screwed into the plastic bubble counter. Just attach the tubing onto the nipple and screw on the nut.

1. Unscrew the bubble counter itself from the regulator
2. Take off the brass threaded part off of the bubble counter (the part that the tubing goes through
3. Slide the brass part onto the tubing
4. Press tubing onto the brass part that the bubbles come out of as it is just like the top off the bubble counter portion.
5. Slide the brass threaded portion down the tube and screw it onto the threads that the bubble counter used to be attached to.

Hope that makes sense but it all assembles just as it did on top of the bubble counter, just without the bubble counter assembly.
