Both of my crabs molted on the same day (What's the deal with that?)

It kills me that I can't take decent pictures through the curved plexiglass.. so here's a picture of his old wardrobe sans water.

Im pretty sure that when crustaceans go through ecdysis (molting) they release a chemical (hormone?) that often induces it in others. Not sure if it is species specific or not.
