Calcium and alkalinity dosing

B-ionic. I've always used it. Never tried anything else but I've had success with this so why fix it if it isn't broken

BRS sodium bicarbonate, calcium chloride, magnesium sulfate and magnesium chloride. 3 part and more economical than B-Ionic.

Brightwell cal, alk, and mag the reason i use it is because it goes hand and hand with the salt i use which is bright well neomarine. Saw great success from the 2 now that i am going from 35 gallons to aprox 140 gallons total water volume i will have to go a more cost effective route due to the small brightwell bottles. But for nanos i love them

d_Carloo is using the tropic marin balling method. He hosted the Club meeting last month so we got to see how well his tank is doing with the Trop Marin Balling mixes. Seems to be a great dosing/balling method.

@plantedtankguy Here is our video explaining The Balling Method in more detail. If you still have any questions about it, please don't hesitate to give me a call in the office at 413-367-0101.

Just spoke to BRS and you can use the balling method with their 2 part mixes. There's a youtube video on it, but basically you just add the minor and major trace elements from fuana Marin to your alk and calcium mixes. 1 and 2 to calcium and 3 to alk

I do the aquaforest balling method using their pre-made 1,2,3 system. In conjunction with the probiotic reef salt it works quite well for me.

I have been using the Tropical Marine balling going on 4 months and it is definitely a good system
Big change in colors and grow
More expensive is the only thing

Red Sea Reef Foundations A B and C made into solutions and dosed with Kamoer auto doser.

I use them simply because I follow their complete reef care program

Carlos,

So if i understand correctly $45 for the 3 boxes and it last 6 months. That's $7.50 a month and the Balling method recommends no or very small infrequent water changes so there's a salt savings for balling. Seems pretty cheap to me. Im guessing you are comparing it to BRS 3 part that is maybe $2 a month, but let's remember you are probably adding some trace elements so there's a little cost there with BRS 3 part.

I think we are going to find the Triton Method is pricey as well and I know Mike has mentioned $50 a month for the pre-mixed Aqua Forest Balling method.

I actually just bought the Fauna Marin balling light elements to add to the BRS 3 part to do a balling method with the BRS 3 part or something close to it. 3 bottle $39 250 Ml and you put a few ML's per gallon 2 of the components. Owe I had been just dosing some elements manually from Kent.

1 box each A & B and C in maybe going to last 6 month

Carlos, I may have to pick your brain now on the tropic marin balling system. I love using the AF pre-made system and it fits my system well, but I just upped my dosing to 265ml a day for all 3 parts...that's almost a $100 a month. I'm gonna have to start making my own (which AF has their 1,2,3 system parts for you to do) or CARX.
