Calcuim Reactor fine tuning

This is from RC user Jonathan Bertoni - "Anything that's food-grade is likely safe. Some decorative ceramic might have a lot of lead in it, I guess. Flower pots are fairly common in tanks with breeding clownfish, as an egg-laying surface."

I'm still testing though- just to be safe. I took two pieces out and placed them in the back. I left the others in the tub to continue testing- we shell see.

I have a bunch more drying now and will cook on Friday- looking good!

I'm reading the "Rock" thread right now just to see what they test for - looks like pH and that was about it. Clay is much more pure then cement - looks like they were adding all kinds of chemicals to the mix- scary!

Hi Y'all...the 390 is full and all pumps running!!!
The dursos are "flushing" a little bit, but quiet. I'll drill bigger holes tomorrow and see what happens.

Are you shaking - that's a lot of water sitting in the house-:bigeyes:.

I was re-reading your tank build and saw that you got your tank from glass cages- did you pickup or have it shipped?

very cool mike.i bet you are getting excited now.

6pm update numbers.as of now the parameters are as follows.

Cal=375 ppm
Alk=4.5 meq/L
Ph=8.3
drip rate still at 60 bp,
effluent rate is 100 ml/min
reactor Ph=6.7

question for reactor owners,how long does your co2 valve stay open during the day?it seems like mine is on alot.i dont think ive seen it shut off once.

That is cool checkinhawk - good numbers! Mine goes on and off during the day but I'm home all day and sit right beside it. Mine makes a clicking noise so I know when it's either going on or off. Does your monitor have a center value? Mine stays right around the center number which depends on the high/low range setting.
Do you remember the ORA acro that I got a few weeks ago? It looks like it's grown about on inch! The green acro you gave me looks beautiful- the growth rate is unbelievable. Really - I can see the growth already.

i was next to mine for hours last night,never shut off.woke up still on,came home from lunch still on.i havent seen it off once,until i turn the knob on the monitor up.mine does click too when it turns off.

How far up do you have to turn it? Mine is running now but about 20 minutes ago it was off. It might be just on the edge, but what you could do is just move it enough so it just needs to go up or down like .01 or .001 and then click, just to make sure it is working correctly.

it doesnt take much to turn it off.just a little move and it shut off.im going to leave it off and see if it comes back on.

Yeah - that sounds good - it shouldn't take very long, mine is still on. Hawkster will be here in about 1/2 - 45 mins - we'll see if he notices the growth :D.

well from what ive seen,that acro you got from me grows fast.i think it may be a table acro of some sort.my colony is really looking more table like,the branches dont grow upward as much as outward.

Not really because when you posted the first time - mine had just clicked off, and I thought yours might have clicked on. Unless your pH monitor goes out 3 places (xx.001) you might had been very close - I'd just watch your numbers and make sure nothing goes wrong - everything looks good now. Very nice parameters, and it didn't get away from you like mine did.
