Calling any Pectinia experts out there...

It was recently brought to my attention, that I may be looking at an extremely rare coral in my tank, a Pectinia with two colors! I was told this coral is mainly available in single colors like green, red or neon green. So I decided out of curiosity has anyone encountered a Pectinia like this before and is it this rare?

Here's some pictures

I never never seen any color like that on a pictinia. That one looks huge. The one I have is extra extra large but only having the green color.<a href="http://s283.photobucket.com/albums/kk313/the413pimp/?action=view&current=SANY1071.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk313/the413pimp/SANY1071.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Most Pectina are not very good looking. Yours looks very nice. I have seen two and threee colors sometimes but usually only see solid colors. Nice pictures.

That pectinia is awesome! It looks very rare to me. I know plenty of people that would go nuts over that. Looks like a PPE pectinia, lol!

I've seen many differnt multiple colored ones; they haven't all looked as nice as yours but most were fresh from shipping so they'd lost color. I think you've got a neat coral but i see mostly purple, green, and brown which IMO is pretty drab looking. They just aren't for me; likely why I've never bothered to buy one.

Thanks guys, and you have to see this coral in person to really see how cool it is, the brown you see is a very maroon red with a neon green ring around each polyp. I was told from someone who gets coral on a regular basis that this is the only one he's ever seen!

wow thanks guys, when I got this coral i never thought it was rare at all just fell in love with it and bought it lol

Here's a pic of mine, it's starting to get some more colour. When I first got it it was a bit bleached. Hopefully it will colour up a bit more!

Those are definitely exceptionally colored pectinia. Interesting that two people in two different areas both picked them up at the same time. Sounds like a new import. Hopefully these will start showing up in more stores.

I've seen some incredibly colored Pictinias before. Here is a picture of a red and green one in my 90 gallon reef tank.
