Came back to Anemone moved.

Hey everyone,
I just came back to my tank which i had left alone since Saturday. Everything looked good.(nothing dead). But, my RBTA had moved over a few inches on the rocks. At first, i thought nothing of it. But then i saw a layer of something on where he used to be located. Almost like foot damage. I smelled the water thinking it was dead but the water smells fine. The anemone looks fine though in its new spot. The mouth is closed fine and it is attached to its new spot no problem. Could it be because it got too big for its old spot? the anemone has grown two inches and was in an area where that could have irritated it. Also, the tank has cyano. Finally, It hasnt been fed in 4 days and ive been on an every other feeding pattern. i Just dont understand what the layer could have been. any help would be apreciated

Sometimes they excrete slime from either eating, or from there symbiotic algae. Either way if the nem looks fine you should be ok. Mine have slimmed under there feet a couple times and it hasn't resulted in anything negative so far.

Ok good to hear. Thats a huge relief. And he seemed to have liked that spot because he had been there for a good month.(since i got him).

In the life of an anemone, a month is like no time at all. You may think it was happy there, but it needed to evaluate the spot for awhile. Seriously, anemones can live very, very long lives and a month is nothing. It's like you spending the weekend in a motel by the beach. You were happy there too, but it wasn't home. Your right. Luckily i have covers on all the intakes so it should be good if it ever decides to go on a long trip. And about your analogy, If i could that would be my permanent home haha. :lolspin:

Yup. One of my condys went walk a bout last night. Same thing as yours, grew out of it's spot - was looking for something new, found a rock setup with a much larger anchor. Luckily I was able to watch it in the moonlight LEDs. Love how these things move around....like fat and slow spiderman super heros....using their arms to pull/sling shot them around

It is pretty cool. I missed mine doing it though:sad2:. He seemed to have moved a little bit last night too. just a few inches though so he did the crawl
