Camera recommendation needed.

The problem in that price range is the lens suffers the most when you start taking money away from the camera. Most people want to nice close-up photos of their inhabitants. The components of macro photography are highly dependant on the quality of the lens. If this is what you want (close-ups) then make sure you look at optical zoom, not digital, and closest focus distance, these should both be listed in the cameras specifications.

The Fuji Finepix line offers the biggest bang for the buck IMO. The more money you can throw at the camera, the better.
