Can a mantis break/eat barnacles?

Hi all,
Got my first shipment of TBS rock on Wed - great looking stuff. Unfortunatly I have at least two mantis shrimp (they came out to stare at me) - put out bottle traps w/shrimp bait last night - no luck so far.
The rock has lots of live barnacles which I was enjoying watching. Yesterday I noticed what looked like dandelion fluff floating around, realized it was the filtering part of the barnacles. I've been hearing a lot of clicking and now that I'm looking closer, it looks like a bunch of them have been broken. Are those bad boys eating them?
Also, any hints on placment of traps? Noticed a few gorilla crabs too, was hoping to get some of those out although I'm not sure excatly why they are bad - just been told to get rid of them.
Thanks
Oh yeah, the tank is 75g

Mantis shrimp love barnacles :) They don't move and if I was a mantis shrimp I would think that they'd be fun to break open. I'd put money on them breaking and eating them.

What color are the mantis'? You wanna give them away? If so, i'll take them off your hands. Just let me know :)

Neogonodactylus festae from the Pacific coast of Panama ofen specialize on barnacles. They graze on those that are close to their cavity entrance.

This, and Hemisquilla, are the only species that I know of that definitely feed on them, but the probability is 99.99% that N. wennerae will as well. It is just that we have very limited data on what stomatopods eat in the wild.

Hmmmmm, that's what I thought.
Any hints on catching them? They're not going for the old shrimp in the bottle trap routine.

They won't until all the easy barnicles are wiped out. May be a pain but if you watch and locate the den the live in just lift out the rock and squirt some fresh water or seltzer water into the hole, they'll come out in a hurry. They do love barnicles, and small cockle clams I collect at the beach.
