I have a six line wasse and a Spotted Cardinalfish in a 75 gallon aquarium. Every time a get new fish there dead by the next day? Why?

Six lines are notorious for aggression once established, even towards larger fish. If you're adding small species, my money is on the wrasse as the killer.

Mine was never aggressive in the year I had him. Very friendly with eveything. I've seen others say the same thing.

I've never had trouble with mine. I've heard of people having problems with them though.

What's your acclimation process like?

Six line wrasses can be very aggressive. Especially towards other wrasses. You can find one occasionally that is initially docile but their behavior changes as they become highly established.

2 questions, 1, why does this forum only get 2 pages before things fall off? 2. why do we get 49357810984 questions asked every week on sixline aggression? im not trying to be mean or anything there are just like 2-4 threads right now about these guys. i know that the search doesnt work in the day time but as soon as the load falls off the servers at night the search works great.

we had one in our last set up that was perfect, the last one we got was a gangster. He beat up on everything. Felt for the little guy, must of had a bad childhood. lol

Are there signs of agression, thats the best way to tell because I had a period of about two month where everything I added to my tank died. I also have a six line and its my favorite fish in the tank. And it doesnt attack anything unless its for self defence.

if you don't see the six line harassing the new fish and they end up dead, it is not necessarily the wrasse. a couple questions:

1) are you putting the new fish in QT before adding them?
2) are you carefully acclimating before adding to the tank?
3) are the dead fish marked up, frayed fins, etc. or not?

I had a six line for about three years in a fairly small tank with other fish (no other wrasses). It never bothered anything. Not new fish, not established fish. There was plenty of rockwork for cover.

This fish was kept with seahorses, leaf fish, orchid dottyback, a madarin and two blennies (not all at the same time). I never had any problem at all.

My Six Line can be a bully as well

I almost pulled him out but he as mellowed

So for the time being I am letting him stay

My sixline's goal in life was to kill my new baby orchid dottyback for about a month. Now he just tries to kill him 50% of the time he sees him. I guess that's an improvement, but the sixline still will not be moving over to my 90g.

Took the six line wrasse out and put him in refegium.Bought two blue green chromis Saturday. They are still alive are doing great!!
It was the six line wrasse.

no most of the time chromis die off pretty easy i went through about 15 before i got a good stock of them. they come into the stores most of the time ill or if one is sick in the group it tends to make the others get sick as well. give it about 2- 4 weeks to see if they are still alive.
