Can I build a stream setup one piece at a time?

I was thinking about getting 2 6000 streams and a 7095 multicontroller. I currently have a 38 gallon tank (with a SSB) and am going to step up to a 120 BB asap.

The price of these units are a little daunting :eek1: and if I could do one thing at a time it would help to cushion the blow. I was thinking of buying a controller then a pump next setting this up (providing that I can run a single pump on the multicontroller) and adding the second pump when po$$ible.

Then when I get the 120 stepping the 6000's up to 6100's if I need more flow.

Will this work?

Thanks for the help,
C.G.

From everything I read you can do that. I'm going to be doing the same thing.

I currently have a Wavebox, and will add 1 x 6100 & 7095 controller. I will add a 2nd 6100 down the road.

I might just purchase the 6000 Stream and order a 6100 transformer. That way I'll have a spare 6000 tranformer laying around. The price of 6000 + 6100 tranformer is about the same as a 6100 NIB.

Best,
Doug

That is great news. I am po. I have to do it this way so knowing that I can use the single pump in the interim is good news.

I started with a 6000 and a 7091 single controller. Over the course of a year I upgraded the transformer to a 6100, then went with the multicontroller, and finally another 6100. I did this mostly because I wanted more and more flow but it also cushions the financial blow a little. The downside is you have a few extra pieces you may or may not be able to sell.

With one pump the multicontroller is basically just a fancy single controller as all modes basically equal pulse mode since there is no other pump to switch to.

What is involved in upgrading a 6000 to a 6100?

And where do you get the parts to do this? I am going to be getting the 2 X 6000 and the multicontroller real soon. I really need some new clothes so I am going to place my order for the streams asap. :)

You need part 7410.602, Premium Aquatics, Reef Exotics and Aquarium Specialty usually stock them.

CeeGee,
Over the course of 1-1/2 years I purchased - in order: 1 deco rock, one 6000, another deco rock, 7095 controller and the second 6000. Then I purchased the two 6100 transformers. SO yes, you can buold your Tunze sysrem - it will be worth the wait and expense.

I think I am just going to bite the bullet and get both streams and a controller.

Thanks for the help Roger.
