this guy was sold to my by LA as a male mccosker's wrasse. however, i've had a few people tell me it's a yellow fin wrasse. in looking at the pics on LA for comparison, it does look like the yellow fin. opinions?

+1 on yellowfin, pretty fish.

Funny, I ordered a Carpenter's and received a yellowfin, even though I had an actual yellowfin on the same order. Guess now I'll have 2!

Did you say something to LA? That would be unacceptable in my book.

Maybe I'm weird, but I would be fine with it. They are both very similar with the big difference being the color on the anal fin. The only way I could see this being a problem would be if someone already had a Yellow Fin and ordered a McCosker's. But since they are so close, I find that situation unlikely. I recently bought a Yellow Fin at my LFS labeled as a McCosker's and had no problems doing so :)

Edit: And there goes my theory, thanks Ami LOL.

You buy from LA you expect them to send the right fish is all I'm saying, similar or not

They are fine so far in QT together :) I think long term my tank size will suit two males of one species.

no, i did not. it never really occurred to me until just now to ask for a positive i.d. i was told "yellow fin" by a couple of people here when i posted pics after receiving this fish. honestly, i didn't really question the i.d. because i was sure that LA wouldn't send the wrong fish!

it's not a huge deal for me since, as has been said, they are so similar in appearance and this guy is 100% healthy and very pretty. there is, however, a $10 price difference. i paid $10 too much.

It is a very pretty fish. I would ask for the $10 back and call it a day, myself. If I were a serious collector or something I would be mad though. Just myself I would at least make a complaint and ask for the $10. Never hurts to let them know because maybe the next to come along could be looking for very specific and be upset, plus money never hurts!

With LA being all about customer service like they are, I would let them know about it especially if you overpaid for the fish that was sent.

i might approach them when i order my next (and probably final) fish when i figure out what that's gonna be. :)

i can't kick about LA. the couple of times i have had fish either doa or die after a few days, they have always given me credit, no questions asked.

their customer service makes it worth the lost ten bucks. now, had it been a difference of $20 or $30, i'd be upset.

You shouldn't be "upset" about it and your right 10$ is worth the customer service you get from them without question

It's a beautiful fish either way. At least LA customer service is good, so if you call, they'll probably take care of the difference.

I would call them. They will do the right thing.

Yep, they did for me. I actually only let them know because I remembered seeing your first thread and I ended up with the same mix up, so I just wanted them to be aware that mistakes were being made and to hopefully be more careful on what fish they pack, but they ended up giving me the full amount back anyway. The sooner you contact them about it the better, and that way they can process the price difference or credit for you before your order on your final fish so you can apply it to that fish.

You sure it wasn't raining?

:D

well, it didn't get in my ear. ;)

they gave you the entire amount back and not just the $10??
